I'm done with this thread, but you know what I wrote is true about screens, DB. Hell, your replay, without the blockers waiting to go down field, shows what a waste it is...I mean, look at this shit:

Want me to continue?
147 screens attempted
Completed 18 %
not 1 screen completed for positive yardage
8 ints on screens
sacked 14 times
Repeat, out of 147 screens attempted, not 1 completed for positive yardage

And all of that is just with being able to cover behind the LOS

I know it's hard to tell in text when one is attempting to make a persuasive argument, but I'm not all worked up about this (and that's why I'll shut up after this post), but it doesn't make any sense and you know it. With this, all you need to do is put a man on the HB and you stand a 0 in 147 chance of completing a screen for positive yardage. Add in the rest of the nrfs and then what? the 0 becomes a negative #??????? LMAO...I mean, come on. You guys are better than this.

If you're going to have the behind the LOS addition, the blocking absolutely must be fixed at the same time. However, that doesn't solve the biggest problem of teams running 40 screens a game then. So, put in a real repeated play penalty. have it kick in on the 6th screen and give it a nasty bite.

Screens are potentially explosive plays and often work extremely well against all sorts of Ds. Hell, Cincy picked up a 3rd and 34 against green bay this past weekend on a screen (TE screen, I believe). Sure, they got the last few yards on a fumble, but when in the world does a 3rd and long screen or draw ever actually catch a pro D off guard? Hell, they go for big plays somewhere around 30% of the time. Just use some common sense...0 positive yards in 147 attempts...LOL

Edit: before someone points out that the other team actually got some positive yardage, the key is simply putting a dot in man coverage on the HB. One D was playing zone to control the HB, the other (the one that didn't allow a single screen in 147 attempts to gain a single yd, for a net of -89.5 passing yds, just put a dot in man on the HB...That dot then ran right past the blockers untouched, play after play after play.

The clear and obvious issue with the replays is the FB doesn't block the oncoming CB. Once again, Bort just fixes one set of flawed code with another set of flawed code.

Improve the ROT blocking pathing/logic so they can pick up blitzing/reading defenders such as the CB in those replays. Allow the QB to make secondary reads. If the HB is covered on the screen, they will look downfield to the TE/WR/etc.

Both of those are needed.

If a CB is covering the HB and you run a screen, it doesn't deserve to be completed. But at the same time, when the upcoming code is added...who is going to cover HBs with CBs in screen situations?

This.

This is pretty hilarious all the bandaids we are willing to slap on with VA nerfs, VA buffs, play nerfs, and whatever, when 90% of the problems are fixed by just fixing the blocking code!

Its obvious in most of these plays that the blockers are just on rails and running to a certain spot before they go live and able to block somebody.

The same will happen with a LB, except that there will be more TFLs (since the HB can't fake or brk tkls for x clicks after a catch), just fewer deflections. This issue isn't the HB being covered behind the LOS...It's that the blockers ignore him as he runs past them....ummmm, 147 times

Dam I hate the change for the zone LB are usually in a zone not CB. Why take the zone from LB when they are the ones that need it most since they cant cover one on one? I strongly disagree with this in football there three positions that play zone FS, SS and LB and now you have taken that away from LB it is totally going to ruin them for passing situations.

LOL - the CB is on his way to tackle the HB before the QB even throws the pass. Great improvement guys!
What a joke.

Dunno if changing Outside Blocker terming is the right way to get this issue. I'm seeing the blockers run out with no idea about the cornerback- the FB runs right past him.

The problem has been really exposed now- this game has terrible pathing and logic on both sides of the ball.

Do linebackers cover this way on screens, or is it just cbs?

Terrible.

More overreacting from Bort, I can't believe it.

Why doesn't he learn his lesson? Anytime there is something that is slightly overpowered, it ends up being completely useless the following season. Why is that?

This game is supposed to be fun. Dots that can't succeed at anything doesn't seem very fun to me, which is the way this game is obviously headed.

Nerf everything.
