I like this idea my only problem is even now when a receiver catches the ball the normally seem to lose their bearings abit before continuing their run. Besides that i like it and plus 1

Still liking this idea, and I disgree with the poster who said it should just be done through the builds. Tackling styles could just be done through builds, too (boost strength vs. boost tackling), but there's a tactic for that.

In general, I don't see how this could do anything but encourage more build diversity, especially if you made the negatives of each option strong enough that not every speedster would just choose YAC as a matter of course. For example, many speedsters neglect catching/carrying until high levels, and in the meantime they drop a fair amount of balls. If setting such a WR to YAC made him a lighting-fast ball dropping and fumbling machine, not everyone would do it.

With the new tactics, we'd have more catches, with more stopping, and less catches with WAY less stopping. The whole key is not letting the YAC option be able to be abused. Seriously, only receivers with tons of speed, agility, and vision should really be able to get the full benefit of an awesome run after catching the ball.

I think that Flashy catching style would definetely require a higher catching abiity to perform successfully, and Possession would require lower. Therefore you would have speed receivers who play on Flashy to get the YAC bonus, but drop even more balls, but you could also use it to offset the lower catching ability. So a speedster would play on Possession to increase his catching ability. Obviously same could be done for a possession receiver, with them playing on Possession to make use of their higher catching, or playing on Flashy to try and get the bonus to YAC they don't have due to their speed and agility.

i could imagine a guy with flashy with awesome catching and good speed so when the catching hit comes in u most likely catch it any way and then speed down the field
