What? Did you read the post. Currently there are contracts that end on day 40, and others that end on various other days...which creates the problems that are being addressed in this thread.

At the very least, switch the default on the Make Offer page to end of season instead of 1 season, at least half of this problem is generated by owners who had no idea what they were doing and just do 1 season always...

I agree with OP, but not because of his reasoning though.
It's just too much of a hassle / disservice to BOTH owner and players to have anything other than day 40 contracts.
I've seen someone say that day 1 contracts give both sides a chance to renegotiate. hogwash.
If he's staying, he'll sign an extension before day 40.
If he's leaving, let him go day 40. It helps owners know what they need to do and helps players shop around.
