Yes, what aheart breaking game it was. And yes, I know Romo had the crucial INT at a pivitol point in the game, but he did not lose this game. He made this game close. I blame Monty Kiffen

I agree.

Frankly, the Broncos were very fortunate. I thought that it was more likely than not that Romo could negotiate 50 yards in 2 minutes to kick the winning FG.

I am a Peyton fan, but Romo made a great Italian meal out of a tomato, a mushroom and some olive oil.

Shaping up to be a very interesting last stretch of games. Great job by Her Majestys Dragons and Crimewave for having stellar seasons for your first time in Pro As it would almost be impossible for you 2 to not make the play-offs, it appears Blue Max and myself will have a very important last 5 games to decide who gets that 8 seed I'm just glad I was competitive this season

Indeed it was, I just wish Dallas' defense couldve stopped them one more time so the Cowboys wouldve won

Playoff time. Should I do the work I need to do from home, or play on GLB and list out some quick predictions. Hmm, think I play as I put in enough hours every week at the damn job.

Alpha and the Omega

1. High Seas Marauders
8. South End Cowboys

In season meeting
High Seas Marauders take it 31-10
High Seas took an early lead and never let go. Both teams rushed the ball well, but the Marauders dominated the time of possession which ultimately gave them the game. Marauders had a good season with two setbacks in tough games. The Cowboys had a sporatic season with some good wins against tough teams and two strange losses where they got dominated. Marauders outlevel the Cowboys by a good margin.

Prediction, Marauders win again, but Cowboys show they have learned through the season and due to their development and additional aging, make this a close game.

4. Potent Potables
5. Austin Longhorns
In season meeting
Longhorns take it 23-13
This appears to have been a pretty evenly matched game. The Longhorns eventually won it with two long touchdown plays which turned the tide. Potables lone TD came from a huge special teams return. Austin came out with a short pass run game plan that seemed to wear down the longhorns until the big plays could happen. Longhorns were able to run the ball well which ultimately did the Potables in as their running game couldn't get going.
Potables big win was taking down the 1st place Marauders, but they were in or won every game they played even when outleveled badly.
Longhorns got some tough breaks and probably should have finished higher. But for a last second field goal against the Marauders, they win that game against the first place team. They take down the second place team in the final game of the season. The Longhorns played the third place team tough.
Similar to the above game, Longhorns outlevel the Potables by a good margin.

Prediction, call it a hunch or call it that I am scared to play the Longhorns again, but I think the Potables shock the Longhorns in a nail biter of a game.

2. French Toast Mafia
7. Manhattan Midnight Warriors
In season meeting
French Toast takes it 20-24
Wow, I didn't look at this game during the season, but this game was a coin flip. Half way through the season it looked like the Mafia was going to dominate the league from start to finish. The Warriors showed that they have some muscle. The Warriors lived and died with their running QB and for the most part did extremely well. French Toast couldn't stop him in season, but did just enough to slow him down that they outlasted him. Time of possession was pretty equal and it took a fourth quarter score for French Toast to hold on to the win.
The Warriors were good this season and will only get better with age. They were in every game they played with the exception of the third place Rum Runners (hmm, seems I have said that before). French Toast was dominant most of the season and only had a few slip ups to prevent them from a perfect season. Not a team I want to mess with going forward.

Prediction, The Warriors are getting better every game. However, this isn't the matchup they wanted as French Toast will be ready for them this time around. French Toast wins this one by two touchdowns.

3. Brethren Krewe Rum Runners
6. CHAOS SOCIETY * BattleDots
In season meeting
Brethren Krewe dispatches the Battledots 21-3
I have played against the BattleDots before and know they are a strong team (hence our 7-3 battle earlier in the season). However, Brethren dominated this game from the outset. The Rum Runners defense prevented the BattleDots from getting a run or pass game going. Rum Runners opened with runs and short passes and just kept the petal to the metal. The Battledots defense put up a good fight and didn't let the Rum Runners into the endzone until the fourth quarter. However, all of the long drives finally wore the BattleDots defense down and the Battledots just couldn't stop the Rum Runners and get them off the field or keep enough of their own drives alive to keep the game close. The time of possession heavily favored the Rum Runners. Both teams are evenly leveled, though the Rum Runners do have a slight advantage on effective levels.

Prediction, while I think the BattleDots are just as good as my team, I don't know that I see them being able to keep up with the Rum Runners in this one. I took a look at who was driving the Rum Runners locamotive and holy cow do they have alot of experienced folks in the drivers seat. Most of those drivers have dominated my own teams at one time or another. BattleDots, if you can figure out how to beat that level of talent you are facing, you are a far better GM than I am.

Will see if I can't type something up for Zeta before I turn in for the night

Zeta says yeah!

I can't say as I followed this conference very closely but I am familiar with a few of the teams.

1. Sin City Silent Assassins
8. Medford Ducks
In season meeting
Assassins do what they did to most everybody and kill the Ducks W 57-0
Strange game this was. If you only count the first and third quarters, this game is all square. So the Assassins must have done something to wear down the Ducks in the second half of each half. Looking at the first quarter of this game, it looked like the Ducks would win out. At the start of the second quarter, the Assassins hit a long pass play on third and eight and a half and that seemed to have opened the floodgates. The Ducks prevented the Assassins from any kind of run game, but the Assassins made themselves at home through the air. The Assassins turned over the Ducks when they needed to or just kept them down.
The ducks played pretty well all season, but ran into some troubles down the stretch when they faced some of their tougher opponents. The Assassins were perfect on the season and now have a 23 game regular season win streak going for them.
Prediction, the Assassins have the Ducks outleveled and while the Ducks have some potential, this isn't the game for them. Assassins continue their march and dominate this game.

4. Her Majesty's Dragons
5. ATHENS WARRIORS
In season meeting
Warriors hold the lance on the dragons and take it 45-10
Athens has always been a tough team for me to figure out. Youngtater and Union Jack are a formidable force. However, it seems their interest sometimes lies in other games they support. When they show interest in winning, they usually do. The Dragons are supported by Ezra and crew and generally thats enough to make any Warrior or normal man shake in their boots. The Dragons were outleveled for much of the season and yet played as if they were the favorites all along. Other than the one slip up against the Warriors, they played every game like they could have won.
Both teams ran the ball fairly well, but the Warriors kept at it while the Dragons had to settle for alot of punts. A 10-10 halftime game quickly got out of hand as the Warriors dominated the fourth quarter helped by several big plays.
Prediction, Athens still outlevels the Dragons and if I was confident that this game had Youngtater and Union Jacks focus, I might predict this game differently. However, having learned quite a bit from Ezra, most notably, don't underestimate him especially in the playoffs, I have to predict the Dragons to walk away with a win.

2. Baltimore Crimewave
7. Southside Green Hornets
In season meeting
Crimewave stings the Hornets to the tune of 33-0
The Crimewave sports some royalty from various different Casual levels in TopClass, Djaco and Howyadoin and while the recognizable King of Bling is supporting the Hornets, not sure his interest is what it once was. With only 100 yards of offense in this one, The Green Hornets didn't have much of a chance. Neither team rushed the ball especially well, but HB Vincent Link took over the game catching the ball out of the backfield.
Both teams are leveled equally, however the Crimewave has a slight effective level advantage. Baltimore has improved steadily as the season has progressed and I wouldn't be surprised to see them playing for the trophy when all is said and done.
Prediction, gave it away early, but don't see how the Hornets can prevent the oncoming Crimewave. The crooks are loose and I am not sure there is a superhero around to stop them.

3. OffTopica Forumites
6. Nevada Hillbillie's
In season meeting
Forumites kick the Hillbillie's back to the country amd take it 21-7
The only game that the Forumites weren't in was against first place Assassins. They also drew the short straw and had their first game against the tough Brethren team in the Alpha conference which gave them an opening day loss.
Nobody seems to be able to completely shut down the Hillbillies offense, however they did run into a few hot teams during the season which were able to outscore the Hillbillies.
Both teams passed the ball about equally well, however it was the Forumites who were able to keep a little bit better of a running game going. The Forumites retained a large advantage on time of possession and after allowing the Hillbillies an opening drive touchdown, kept the Hillbillies off the scoreboard the rest of the game. There was alot of back and forth in this game with the tide probably turning with the Forumites having two seven minute drives which ate up the clock and likely tired out the Hillbillies defense and affected the morales of both teams.
Prediction, No upset here, the Forumites continue to roll on to the next round, though I wouldn't be surprised if the Hillbillies scored a bit more this second time around.

Very nice! The COUNTDOWN pre-game shows of the NFL could use your analysis!

I think you have a fairly solid handle on the outcome of ROUND 1.

Thanks Blue. Used to do these all the time as I enjoy it. Kids came along and well, not so much time anymore. 1st round predictions are normally pretty straight forward. I tend to look pretty stupid as the playoffs progress though. :-)

You were correct about our game. Close, but no cigar. We were winning at half time....14-10, but then we gave up 4 FG in the second half and lost to a formidable opponent. I guess I can relax now. Out of the playoffs.
