Token value really - they do nothing in terms of buying stuff but the amount a player is paid impacts their pre-game starting morale. We could just get rid of player cash entirely tbh but I know we plan on adding fun bling type stuff (believe it or not some people want it) down the road (well down the road) so we'll let players save it.

I think this illustrates somewhat the misplaced focus that has many of us upset. Is GLB to be a football sim centered game to appeal to football fans and purists or is GLB to be a RPG centered on activities to occupy those RPG enthusiasts interested in "bling" factor. Is there really anyone out there more interested in some "bling'' options at the expense of core game sim options/realism/etc.?
I think Bort will have a hard time serving both crowds as the football fan/purist wants as little to deal with as possible off the field while the RPG enthusiasts will want.....well.....I don't know. I'm a football fan, not a RPG enthusiast and won't try to speak for them. Maybe one of you RPGer's could give some insight into what makes this/a game fun for you.

Come back to me in a year.

At this rate there won't be anybody here in a year. At least not anybody who actually understands the game. This game is becoming so complicated for owners that it may just be easier owning a real team. If anybody has played Eastside Hockey Manager they'll understand the connection. That game is so detail oriented that it's very much like actually being an NHL GM. There's only so much fun somebody can have making players. A year ago I was very close to deciding to buy a team. Then this advanced AI thing came out. Then some financial changes came around. Then a roster cap. Then this, then that. It's just too much for most people.

This quote from Saris just sort of capped the whole thing for me:

I thought the developmental trains were a one time deal? And you're listing a BT cost with the single trains but not the multi's which also take BT's to upgrade. Also I think your BT numbers are off for the multi's, they seem to be counting one additional train.

Now I am not taking shots at Saris on this comment. I assume that the question is completely legitimate and I am not being sarcastic in the next with regards to Saris.

Should that question even have to be asked? How does that have anything to do with football? It almost feels like we are speaking Arabic here. In fact, Arabic may be easier to learn than the new training system.

Don't feed the spreadsheet jockeys please. They are not representative of the player base.

To underscore the complexity, here are the different units that dots accumulate and that users will spend;

Flex points
Training points
Bonus Tokens
Skill Points
Veteran Points
Resource Units
Shopping Tokens
Cash (to a degree)

WTF.

The intent was to add choices, enable SA chamges, etc.

Fine. But simple is better.

A slight change in bonus tokens - how many are earned and what can be done with them could have achieved all of this. Want to swap an SA? 16 tokens, please. Add strength-agility as an intense combo? 8 tokens. Or whatever.

Build your own AEQ combo? Well, that first piece will cost 16 bonus tokens.

This way, we'd keep what is really a tried and true training and upgrade system, add some options, and not need to add cpmplexity and confusion and excessive need for number crunching to get determine the best next step for a dot.

The idea itself is good, but the execution is horrid. Dumping all these changes on everyone at once hoping to minimize the outrage is also a terrible idea. So many people are rage-quitting...

WHY are we screwing with training and finances and adding coaches when the sim is still broken.

All this does is complicate the game even further. If I want to learn something this complicated I'll got to college. If these changes are executed, GLB will lose so many agents, teams, and players.

I for one would never boost again.

Terrible idea.

Fact is BOrt stated he wanted an "RPG" type game centered on football. It is the "Bling" and other stuff that Bort cares about. Want to add something for "players" to do, add some off season actions. Most just come, check in, click a few buttons to manage dots and go on their way. It is the owners, gm's, oc's that make this game go. The folks who sink time into product and then their $ as well. You alienate them with systems that make no sense, and you have problems. Especially when what is communicated is "this is what I want, like it or leave it." When hearing the complaints and uproar it is just wait you don't understand, this will make it better. I don't care that the sim actually has more holes than swiss cheese, folks can decide to get tokens and goodies, or train hard to perfect their dots... but at least they will get to unlock stuff like an RPG and do more things that makes Bort happy.
