This is a question, the Shift of the TE takes place before the play right? It's not motion or anything like that? Because if or when this happens it creates a whole other can of worms.

I do agree with the idea, when I first joined GLB and was learning how it was set up I was confused as to why the depth chart was set up for R and L as opposed to Strong and Weak.

Bort's silence = "I know this should be added, but I can't do it right now so deal with it. If I acknowledge this however, it would only flame the issue so I'm going to stay quiet for the moment until I can get around to it."

Actually it is totally unnecessary although I agree 100% in principle, if the D wants to blitz weak they will blitz opposite the TE. The simple solution is to leave the TE on the right. By leaving the TE on the right you have a SOLB and WOLB already.

Allowing the TE to flip flop causes more more programming for Bort at match ups and zones need to be recalculated for every additional formation. As discussed D's would just blitz the other side. This technique just creates a guessing game.

The better solution is to give the option for the RB to check weak or strong first but still give the TE the option to stay on the strong side.

That is the football coach in me.

This is absolutely necessary, and should have been implemented at the same time as the new offensive plays. Because you cant call defensive plays live, you have no idea where the weak side is going to be. This just doesnt happen in football

The TE swap is a MOTION before the play, only when he's staying in to pass block, to help out with the RDE. You cannot flip the play's strong side.

The TE cannot switch sides on running plays, or on routes.

Thanks for the reply Bort. But if the TE flips to pass block left, would that not become the new strong side (voiding any type of Weak Blitz the D wants to run)?

So what happens if the D play calls for a weak shift and a ROLB blitz? Does the LB corps shift left to the vacated TE side, or right, to what is now the strong side? Either way, I hope this is adjusted in the D AI at some point. We call weak side shifts for a reason. To blitz the WLB, not to blitz the SLB right into the TE.

good point Snake. Is a weak side shift actually a weakside shift, or is it a right side shift as coded in the sim?

Whether it's a right side shift or left side shift isn't really all im referring to. Let's say you call a weak blitz to get the ROLB a little closer to the line. The TE shifts to this side, creating a new strong side. So now, let's assume the LBs shift left (to the new weak side), youre still not putting your ROLB in good position to blitz. Either way, the defense has no way to react once the offense chooses which side to put the TE on.
