the Gurupies got here around day s1 20. probobly 25 of us from another sports website. The problem back then was, you were stuck behind S1 teams until pro, and there was no plateau.
built our firrst farm team in s8 when we figured out we needed to feed indy. we built it a season early and played in DLeagues and entered s8 as level 16's in rookie. (learned this from macedonia diodochi)(oakland suppressors was the overflow team, the first i know of), we built it in a forum and i promised everyone i wouldnt name it The Dirty Sanchez but i did anyway.
-wins and trophys were huge, if you lost you got hammered in the forums.
- we had a MIT math guy (stray doug), several math guys actually, him and ref figured out the formula and strategy for building, capping, training.
Yep it was Stray Doug, Tdotter and myself who spent hours and hours doing the math on player building. Some other guys were doing similar stuff and we shared info and experimented. Once we figured out how to build, we had to start learning what made players great and how far to take them. Experimented with extreme builds and rounding them out earlier and then number of AEQ and SAs and then teh damn VAs came and threw us for another loop. The most frustrating thing was that the sim changed so much that we were tryign to hit a moving target. had to keep changing stuff and bastardizing builds since it took so long for them to mature. It would take 10 seasons to build for one year of plateau or WL. This frustration forced Tdotter out and then Doug left a few seasons later. Boozer kept me going. Now it's kind of a routine. Don't know what I'll do when this game goes away and I have so many more hours to live my life again!

It is nice reading this thread.
I came in early season two. I enjoyed this game and loved the people here.
Started the Real Thing Tournament which was a Double Elimination 64 Team Tournament.
Had a few problems with the trophies and Time at first. Then Bort opened up for more games to be played.
That really helped the tournament. Later, we had teams that had too many games and others that would
stall on purpose. Every Season except one, we completed this Tournament. I was working around 100 hours a week
and still loved coming here just for the people here.
Great fun Back then.
great thread
thx for the RT tourney lilcokeman - it was a good laugh

I was on vacation back in S10 when Odyssey won the game against Brazilian Dirty Sanchez for conference final. Our first trophy and still remember the excitement. Good old times for sure, forums full of people, different game but alive, not a rotted corpse like now.

I liked the different agent created drafting groups. where teams would register based on age groups, put up one or more players to earn the ability to draft, and then it was all player scouting, talking crap, and hoping the team in front of you didn't grab your guy.
Also early in those days were when people figured out a browser exploit where they could add either extra training or extra skill points, I don't recall which.
The changes were both annoying and exciting.

Those drafts were fun. I was helping to run a team and it was great to pick up some free agents from the draft.
