the idea that insta-79s are going to cause some huge deluge of returning agents is a head-scratcher to me. Will a few people come back because of it? Probably. And some people will still continue to trickle out every season, and some people who return will take a look and say nah, already kicked that addiction.

I just haven't seen any arguments that make sense as to why this will be some huge GLB lifesaver

You are right, it will not save GLB. All this will do keep a few of the diehards happy for a little while longer.

Insta-79's prolong GLB's life much longer. Teams gut every season simply because they can't recruit to fill their needs. Giving them the ability to build to fill those needs keeps teams alive. Keeping teams alive keeps non-decline players alive (since tons of these retire every season when their team guts, despite having more years of plateau left).

GLB's death is fast approaching at this rate. In a few seasons natty pro deteriorated to cpu filled complete crap. GLB's demise is MUCH faster without insta-79's.

So now we are comparing insta-79's against a mythical solution that saves GLB indefinitely and no one has come up with? Why would we do that. Insta-79's should be compared to what we have now...

You are right about all of this. It's sorely needed to keep the upper levels alive, and if implemented correctly, could keep other levels alive and the flex flowing, at least for a little while.

What it's not going to do, however, is bring back a crapload of people who have left. That's what I was specifically taking issue with, the arguments that are premised on the idea that this will result in a massive influx of retired agents.

No, they will save us all, bow your head to the all mighty insta dots.

I have thought for some time that introducing dots at different tiers would be good. Level 1, Level 40, Level 79. It would create some cool meta-games.

Important thing would be trying to keep the per-season cost the same. If bort wants people to pay $90 for an insta-79 that's retarded.

Though honestly instead of 900/600/300 flex a season as it is now, I think it'd be a good idea if bort made it say 450/300/150 flex/season with no flex return. Would actually cost more flex net and thus make people burn through their current flex faster and thus need to buy more sooner. Also lower cost encourages people to buy more players and over-extend to need more flex.

Alternatively, could do 600/400/200 with 25% return if bort is big on making people still have flex to recycle so they don't leave GLB. Ends up the same cost as the above (and more expensive than current glb technicly).

Or, a little out of the box. Purchase a team for "x" flex and it's "y" per dot, with "y" being a low enough flex cost that most owners could field a team with little up front financial output, but enough that it would be superior to getting some Agents on board the team to help field the team.

I think this would encourage more teams, probably fewer Agents on each team, but it should also build a bigger pool of dots for signing.

This is the definition of anecdotal but jbrowning checked in last off season looking for a rookie team to build for after being out since s40. He had something like 60K in flex laying around. We pm'd and insta-chatted each other for a day or two but he went dormant again and I haven't heard from him since. Anyway insta-dots would have got him going again. Again, its only anecdotal but I'm sure it would be true for a lot of inactives.

And when an agent is back in he eventually runs out of flex and buys more. Its really as simple as that.

Myself, I follow bhall and wiseivian's OC forum religiously. There's been many times when somethings discussed like Pummel and Aura on the OL being a powerful method to making a team competitive, that I would have bought and built a whole offensive line my self instantly on the spot just to check it out. There's also been many times I'm just one or two players short of having a perfect roster just to sign some crap dot that my OC then uses to claim as the reason we didn't win one.

So, If we want a game where more guys come back. A game where new blood can get engaged right away. A game where independent outfits like mine can stop making excuses and be competitive with the top teams. Then we need a game where nothing changes, absolutely nothing except insta-dots, built from a greasemonkey like VPB, is an option.

I totally agree with you chief! I have been wondering for a while why they don't just do this. I have seen so many people get bored during the building process and maybe this may be a way to keep their interest and more importantly help teams fill their rosters.

just.....do.....something, anything, who cares what it is at this point, just do something. Do a stealth something, dont announce it, let us guess. Steal boost fumble recovery, stealth nerf int's, steal boost tackling, who cares, just do something so maybe we get the impression that something changed.

The other day The Hitman was telling me he wanted WRs with some blocking, not much, maybe 30 or so. I agreed but I've been running teams since s8 and there's never nothing out there like that except for the odd one or two. He also wanted a pHB with 150 speed and 100 strength with enough vision to find daylight. I've never seen anything like that either, at least as a free agent. So I went on VPB to see what was even possible. I spent an hour trying to craft these guys. I couldn't make it happen for the pHB but the whole time I was trying I kept thinking how cool it would be if the VPB just had a submit button with a running count of how much flex it would cost me to pull the trigger at any particular stage in the build.

Anywayz, I think thats all most of us need to have. There's likely a consensus on some other chit like shorter off seasons, more custom depth chart positions, and more realistic special teams coding, but a VPB with a submit button is a no brainer.
