Nah, STOPs are already powerful enough. If you want a defensive STOP, use a defensive player.

In what way?

Could say the same thing about EVERY positio dominating GLB...some work some don't.

Your un-informed behind has no basis for -1, as do the rest of ya....

No it won't. Fumbles are still very frequent even in the current sim at 80 carrying, +25% NF, 15 Return Man. For this to work would require a lot of sim changes on STs to prevent FFs from getting out of control. I like the idea in theory, but it would make FFing STOPs way too common and powerful.

If it is to be done, you'd need to have the sim change and a kr/pr skill tree similar to:

Flashy Returner:
First Step-->Change Direction-->Head Fake-->Juke-->Spin

Reliable Returner:
Cover Up-->Lower the Shoulder-->Follow Your Blocker (bonus to vision check to stay behind wedge)-->Slipper (not the VA, but a bonus to avoiding direct hits on tackles; you'd still take the tackle but have less chance at being Monster or Hard Hit)-->Return Specialist

Stops are already good enough. They don't need perfect SA trees (which no other position has). You have extra SA's to help you choose the SA's you want.

i like the idea of STOP trees, BUT i would make the trees geared towards block avoidance/better blocking than allowing more fumble creators and superman type returners.

Not a fan. Basically making STOP players too specialized.

Keep the options of D or O base builds, but don't combine them.

Seems like this would make ST's overpowered. I'm skeptical and will vote no...

why? I mean, you can not block field goals or block punts.

i don't think this will make STOPs overpowered, but rather make them better at pursuit, holding/breaking blocks etc. Things that most special teamers IRL work on already. Most NFL teams have a captain slot for their special teams captain, somebody that does nothing but special teams snaps. You would think we would try to give people that choose to create a dot for a thankless role more incentive.

It would also give teams more of an incentive to sign STOPs, therefore more STOP creation would occur etc.

agreed - part of the challenge of football is to make the depth chart work with the roster that you have - in the NFL outside of a few kick returners most Special Team's guys are 2nd and 3rd stringers... should be the same here -

EVERY position has 2 options for "specialized" build trees, are you new to GLB or what??

BTW, they don't play O or D, thus they are not "base builds" as you say.....

Wow, alot of know-it-alls don't get the point of this suggestion......

Imagine if one of the QB tree options was from a LB.......doesn't make much sense to have a pocket QB with snarl SA???

Same goes with Oline STOPS using pass protect SA tree......NO F'in difference!!
