I would trade Change Direction for first step on the defensive tree tbh. First step is pure gold imo.

STOP's are plenty good now. I'm glad they don't dumb it down like they do everything else.

I like it the way it is. you hafta have an iq above &^&%^$%$ to have a good stop. This suggestion is just another dagger in the heart of creative dot building..

-1 I like trees why would we want to STOP them.

However, we should let agents have a choice if they want a tree for their special teams only player

That setup seems to support the idea of making STOP a position, with the Archetypes being Blocking and Coverage. Those could also be the two SA trees,

Blocking - Run Block, Get Low, Hands, Cut Block, Pancake
Coverage - First Step, Change Direction, Wrap Up Tackle, Diving Tackle, Monster Hit

doing this is a must... make STOP a position, but have one more tree for return man, so there can be a returner who isn't a CB or a HB or a WR, but just a pure return specialist... List STOPs on roster down with kickers and punters rather than with the offense or defense.

If you don't want STOPs, then drop the roster size down. If the roster size is going to stay at 55, then STOPs are going to be a valuable part of the game and should be viewed as a position and allowed to specialize. (In real life the NFL sends a guy to the Pro Bowl each year purely for his ST performance.)

Nah, I like the way it is right now (although I do like the idea of STOP trees). In real football, special teamers are usually backups at other positions, and occasionally play at those positions when needed. Even when guys play primarily on special teams, they are still listed on the roster as a regular position (WR, LB, S, etc.)

this is not true. they are listed at a regular position, but that is only cuz their is no ST position listed in football. i made Steve tasker with the sole intent of him being a ST player only. that was his role for the first 7 yrs of his career. in fact the bills had 2 ST players only with tasker and Mark Pike. it does happen, they just dont list them as ST cuz the NFL does not do it that way. but for all intents and purposes, there are a lot of guys that are ST only

Nah, STOPs are already powerful enough. If you want a defensive STOP, use a defensive player.

The next crop of returners will all have 80 carrying, avoid fumble, etc. It will even out quite nicely I think.
