Do you honestly think the formula can be fixed?
Blowout games will always grossly impact rankings... also Bort insists that players on every team should have a shot at MVP despite their team being 0-16 having lost every game by 255+. As long as those effect the system it will never be fixed.
use only the stats from each players 6 most competitive games and you would have a much more accurate mvp race. surely a TD in a 17-13 game should be far more important than 20 TDs in a 255-0 that still gets adjusted down to 4 TDs.
bort time after time has said he is happy with the mvp calculations even if there seems to the rest of us that those calculations have flaws. but this to me says that bort knows the calculations are flawed and has thrown his hands up in surrender.
sadly in a lot of leagues, the MVPs can almost be awarded before the start of the season.
offensive mvp will be the the RB from a run heavy, above average team that mostly just features the one player
defensive mvp will be the DE with the best combination of sacks, hurries and FF
ST mvp will be the returner from a mid level team that gets alot more KOs than the top teams.I dont think "6 most competitive games" works either (assuming "competitive" implies close games). Why would it be fair to count games for players on the top teams against the rest of the top teams while a player on a team fighting for a playoff spot gets to count his stats against lesser opponents? I think a 5th or 6th seed team is more capable of shutting down a MVP caliber player than a #9 or #10 seed team is.
also... to win the ST MVP the returner must also be placed as a gunner on kick/punt coverage to rack up some tackles (missed tackles being ignored).
