THEN FIX THE FORMULA.

What would be so wrong about that?

Obviously, that is really the issue, so just fix the right problem. Don't punish people because GLB is too uninterested to fix the actual problem.

I don't disagree with this.

GLB knows that its MVP formula is flawed, so instead of trying to fix it, their solution is to give the endorsement randomly. That is amusingly typical for this game.

The problem is that any formula you like will be gamed. So you add some randomness to it to reduce the impact of gaming the formula. Standard, really.

If you think you have a magical formula that gets the right MVP no matter how much people try to screw with the system, go ahead and propose it, but I'm going to state right here I don't believe it exists.

It could use some tweaks but top 5 weighted is a good first step.

No, there are some serious flaws within the MVP formula that people have been screaming about for seasons now, but every thread that is posted about it ends up being locked on sight.

There was even a sticky post in the bugs forum saying that Bort was happy with the way that the MVP was working, so no threads would be allowed to discuss it.

But that all looks like bullshit now, because of this ridiculous new rule.

Once again: FIX THE FORMULA.

And Bort, if you can't do it, I'm sure there is someone around here that can. Seriously.

Bort is happy with the formula, but in one of the Q&As, he did open up the ability to tweak the formulas via suggestions. MVP SUGGESTIONS should no longer be locked, but complaints will be. the biggest error i see in MVP suggestions is that the OP more often than not is using raw stats to support their idea which makes their argument completely void.

the biggest problem with mvp is that adjusted stats were supposed to minimize stats from blowouts yet blowout games still will decide most mvps. until blowouts are completely eliminated from the calculations, the calculations will remain flawed, even if in a perfect world those same formulas would be correct.

Adjusted stat is the most asinine solution to the blowout games problem in the MVP calculation. Is it just me but it seems the obvious and simple solution is to allow a fixed number of MVP points per game to be distributed among players based on their performance in the game. In this way, an MVP performance will only get X amount of points per game, no matter if the score is 255-0 or 7-7. But heck adjusted stats and now random winner probably works better

Can't we just put all the names into a hat at the end of the season (everyone is eligible) and pull out the winner?

I can't wait for the #1 overall offensive/defensive player in GLB to be shafted out of their endorsement.

Pee Wee endorsements aren't all that big a deal anyways.

just don't number the #1 through #10 (or 5 if that's what it turned out to be).

Change the display screen to say:

Current MVP Candidates (in alphabetical order)
Aaron Apple
Bruce Boxer
Chris Carter
Dave Dimwit
Eric Ericson

Current MVP Bubble (in alphabetical order)
Frank Food
Greg Goo
Harry Hore
Jack Johnson
Kevin Kreary

That way - no one will ever know if the #1 ranked player - or the #5 got the MVP.

It's also quite a bit more like (gasp) the real world - since there is no set formula for determining the MVP in the real world

Ummmmmmm.....

Award page?????
