Great Job.

Great job on the testing, Hazy. Since we seem to be throwing around ideas, I got a few

1- VA's shold be added that represent a pass rush move. Think spin move, rip move, swim move, etc. They could be 1 VA, or many. Each move could have a different combo of Spd/Str/Agi as a requirment, and depending on the level of the VA, the moves would be used more often and more successfully

2-QB's should drop back slower, should have to finish their dropback before they begin making reads/ throw the ball, and it should be very rare/unsuccessful that a QB throws into double/triple coverage

3-DL should be able to get knockdowns on the Qb if they get pressure but the QB gets the ball off. Each time he's knocked down/ sacked, the QB's speed, carrying, pass quality, and vision should decrease exponentially. 4-5 times would have a slight effect, 9-10 times should have a very noticable effect, and 15+ times should make the QB terrible. The effects of this could be reduced by higher stamina, or by resting the QB by benching him, by being on defense, or by having a quarter end.

Thanks for doing this by the way. The points about OTs backing up and still being able to block and about DEs not breaking blocks are good points, but I don't think its a problem with the release time. If the QB is throwing to a short route then he's not going to have the ball in his hands for more than 2 seconds. I do think that having the D-linemen being able to knock down more passes and instituting throwing lanes into the game would make it more realistic, but that would be difficult to integrate.

Thanks Hazy, a DE may actually viable in the near future again. I was thinking about a fix that may help considering the pathing of DE. Maybe there should be a slider bar for for bull rush to evasive like for the offenses running between elusive and power. And have 100% evasive work almost like super elusive where (maybe not every tic) the player is constantly looking for the easiest way to get around the blocker.

I agree with this idea in theory, but Bort would first have to fix the issue that o-linemen stop blocking the second that the ball is thrown (as it is now, they would be far to prevalent and a DE would only really need speed/FS to get them).

Yeah, great idea...

I should add, though, that I think it's best for Bort to fix one problem with DE/OT interaction at a time (as much as I like the knockdown idea). The last time he went after this issue (from the other direction when he thought DEs were overpowered), I think he made too many changes at once which led us to the current state. If he fixes one thing at a time, it should be easier to manage getting the dynamic right.

Hazy,

Thank you for taking a look at this and bringing it to Bort's attention. You're starting to give me a little bit of hope that this game may start turning around.

Agreed.

This is what everyone has been saying for 3 seasons now.

I still think the main culprit is pass plays developing too quickly

I agree with your observations Hazy, but there seems to be something else going on that was not captured in the test sim.

In the test sim, the DEs look like they rush towards the QB until they run into the blocker - like you see in this play - the LE rushes towards the passer but is blocked and pushed back by the ROT:
http://test.goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=796&pbp_id=189850

Same thing here, the DEs rush towards the QB until engaged by the OTs:
http://test.goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=796&pbp_id=189857

Contrast these with what is going on in the active sims - for some reason the DEs are not engaging with the OTs, even when bull rush is being used. Here are the plays I posted in the DE Bull Rush Bug thread:

LE dances around instead of engaging the OT:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=545181&pbp_id=617411

LE tries to go around the OT instead of engaging:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=545181&pbp_id=618732

LE bounces around instead of moving towards the QB:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=545181&pbp_id=611379

Again LE dances instead of going to QB:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=545181&pbp_id=614509

Ditto:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=545181&pbp_id=615561

Again LE pauses to evade instead of bull rushing:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=545181&pbp_id=617969

There is something else going on here... any ideas what is causing this?
