Isn't the benefit of slow build taking maximum advantage of training skills that are low when the players is at the low lvls -more efficient - so PT is not important as you want your player holding back.(But still sticking SP on to get to soft Cap )
This includes not boosting aswell.
Unfortunately it means taking longer to build - so won't have the 'lifespan ' to achieve higher lvls - and isn't much fun - ( OK if you've got a few 'real 'players aswell )

However with lvl 13 cap - it can mean your lvl 13 slow build player - can be 'King for the Day ' - as he'll have higher skill lvls than an equivalent lvl 13 - but players of the same 'age' will be several levels higher, and they'll achieve higher lvls .
OK shoot me down........

If you train up Stamina right away, xylo, there's no reason the slow-builder will get less exp.

I have a WR with 14 stamina that got 40 plays/game in the d-league. No reason to invest in stamina either.

put your equip into stamina...you can always change it later at minimal cost.

If you have a team of all slow builders then stamina is a non-issue

Thats the point - for the ultimate slow builder - you don't want your player playing - only Training - so keep Stamina low - so he dosn't get many plays and stays at low levels longer - even deliberately choose CPU Team with lots of players at the same position - he'll be rubbish for ages , not get as high in lvls as some - but for a time he'll be the best at his lvl - Its like 400m running - do you go off fast and hold on or go off slow and build up !

^ if you aren't planning on making the best player you can, something is wrong.

Levels in this game matter not (unless you are talking about capped leagues). There may be reasons not to level up as fast, however at the end of the day SP's matter and the only way to get them is to level. Daily training simply can't keep pace with leveling in terms of skill point generation.

Thanks - haven't crunched the numbers - think you hit the nail on the head " Levels in this game matter not " - its about being the best you can .....for as long as you can ,which may be from lvl 16 onward - NOT from lvls 1 to 16 -
and not just the best Player /Team in a capped leage for 1 season.

I think it could work if you pumped stamina right at the beginning to get plays, so don't hoard all your points put a few into stamina so you can keep getting the plays

Here's my definition of slow building:

-You pick an attribute when you create your player, and dump all your initial SP into it.
-Upon level-ups, you immediately dump the 5 SP into that same attribute until it reaches the cap of your choice (personally I would never pay 3SP to raise an attribute by one point, so I'd stop at the 3SP cap at the latest)
-Throughout this, train "evenly" in all the other attributes relevant to your build. Example: My power HB is going to have Strength taken up to the 3SP cap, while I train on Agility, Stamina, and Carrying - whichever is lowest at any given moment, to get the most out of your nightly training while you're whoring SP into your main attribute.
-Once you have reached given cap for given main attribute, you move on to another attribute. In my HB's case, I'd pick agility. Having gotten Strength up to the 3SP cap, my agility, stamina, and carrying should be about 17 each. I'll proceed to do the same thing with my agility as I did before with my strength, except I'll only be going to the 2SP cap.
-While I am dumping my 5SP/level into agility, I am still training Stamina and Carrying "evenly" as I described before.

Basically rinse and repeat for each category. Break away from your nightly training on minor attributes when you feel it just isn't rewarding enough, and maybe train a bit in other attributes that are lower - in my case, after my Agility was up to the 2SP cap and my carrying and stamina had each reached mid-20's from nightly training and level-up bonuses, I would start to train in confidence, maybe some vision, both of which would be lower than carrying/stamina.

Call it what you want, but slow building is just an attempt to get the most out of your player. It's easier for kickers and punters to slow build because they can do alright while they slow build, whoring kicking and punting, and then confidence, while training in minors like strength and vision. But it's not so easy for other positions, and it's up to you to think about what you will want your stats to be down the road, and grow accordingly

Smart players leave one stat low so they can train it while using SP in other stats. By "Slow Building" your player, you get maybe 3 extra points in a skill while having an utterly terrible player for your first 2 seasons or so.

Exactly. That's what I'm doing.

For most skills, I've basically set it up so I train the skill to 28(minimum), from there, I allow levels to augment it up to the 1 point cap of 48/49.
With my linebacker, for example, I went from speed to tackling, to agility, to vision, and will have my strength completed with next season's boosts.

The only thing I ever skilled up early was stamina (like everyone else).

Lol My question is do you guys really think thats going to be a good way to build after the tweaks?

Im not exactly sure how much tweaking is going to be done, nor to what. But Im gonna laugh my ass off if all these "Soft Cap" builds go to absolute shit for a while.

It depends on the individual build, whether or not it is "nerf-proof". There is no possible scenario in which raising an attribute to a desired SP cap as fast as possible, one by one, will be less efficient than even-building all of a player's attributes to a similar level. The latter will always take more time/SP to complete (although the latter will also give you more immediate results on the field), AFAIK there have been no announcements to actually change the 2SP/3SP/4SP/etc caps to different actual values, has there?

i think it should be more experience. I know there's always advice that people give when people ask to rate their player and help with their builds, but some of the advice is wrong, or terribly far off from what you should do. If you pump points as you go along, you get to understand what stats work, and what doesnt. If you hoard all your points, and put all your points in a certain stat that a couple of people advised would make your build "awesome", might regret it later. Plus, there's only 10 seasons before you start weakening, so why not play it to the fullest?
