How you should slow build a player depends on position and how you want to build him. For some positions, the way to slow build is to assign all your sps in one stat while training another. There is no reason to horde.

However with other positions, especially if you are building a balanced player, then it can be good to assign enough sp to stamina to maximize your players PT in d-league and horde the rest while you train on several different attributes.

Now, THAT's funny.

Like I said, you actually end up with a player with lower attributes later than you could have had if you built him properly.

Also thunder did I really say what me do naturally l0l

I am "slow building" my TE. Training speed, agility to 20 and then adding points to it but in the mean time while training I add points into blocking and strength. It is kind off slow building... though at lvl 1 I did add all 15 points to catching so I started of with 30 catching and then didn't touch it (using lvl ups to increase it .5 each lvl).

Slow building in general though (if your going to wait more then a few lvls to put points in) is stupid due to the soft caps. You will be wasting your SPs meeting the +2 and +3 requirements to go up one point while using the points you gain for lvling up to get to the soft caps. It is better to do it the other way.

At most for a player going from lvl 1 - 10 in a season, by training you could probably go up 20 points but each time you lvl, 3 points get added to your physical abilites (giving you 30pts at season end). It is less wasteful to make those 30pts work for you at the soft caps then it is before you hit them. And the faster you get to the soft caps the less you waste.

I usually do it until I'm ready to leave the D-League.

I did the math for a QB if I did/Did not do the slow build.

I really don't want to go into detail of it, but after 4 hours of number crunching I can tell you that the boost you get is enough that I'll create every player I have using this strategy from now on, and am rather sad I didn't do it with my early builds.

you only get a boost if you don't factor in the soft caps...

I like to pump SA right away so you have longer to train your stats while they are low.

That's the only way to do it, imo.

Yup, power level 1 stat while training up the others.

This is the way to go, cause you can get that 1 stat up to the caps quickly and take advantage of the generalist skill boosts you get when you level up.

I'm building a power RB w/ this method. He's level 7 right now with 54 base strength. He'll have another season in the d-leagues to round himself out and then be a beast.

Slow building til you are able to allocate the points to hit the soft cap is a perfectly fine way to do it. Slow building for a season is not ideal, imo.

By "slow building" I am referring to people hoarding their SP's on the notion that they can train all their low-rolled skills to a decent amount and then pour the SP's in at a later date (usually a full season).

Which is ridiculously dumb because your missing over a season of games to tweak your player for about 3 extra skills.

If a season 1 team wants to make replacements for their team now thats fine, just make them properly instead of all this dumb "slow building" nonsense LOL.

Im assuming you've never slow built a player. Because if you have, you would know the benefit of it.

I am not talking about - lets say for a qb - putting points in throwing/vision/confidence and just training strength.

I am not talking about saving skill points to train, and then IMMEDIATELY when you have enough to hit the soft cap dumping them in - that is the only way to get a benefit.

I'm talking about the idiots who just hoard skill points to train everything because they think it's smart, who fail to realize soft caps make it actually HURT in the end.

The noob way to slow build

There is also another way...but it requires a whole team of folks doing the same thing.
