no it wouldn't

the WL teams would just have their farm team stay with the team it was built on and move that one on up

the team name would be different, but the agents and coordinators would all be the same

you cannot legislate teams into WL; they are going to have to earn it

They earn it in that particular cycle At least you wouldn't have 2-3 teams from basically the same agents/org, controlling the league. If I remember right, that was an argument and frustration from some owners/co-ords, in the old system

Go with 7 plateau seasons

those WL teams have enough teams to cover that

the WL teams that were there before will have as many teams as they want to bother coordinating

even when they get knocked out for a season they almost immediately go right back up

the thing that will put new teams up there to stay will be improving their coordinating

Fwiw this was mostly due to the 4 lg into 1 lg WL promotion system being stupid since it's way too big of a jump up/down in competition.

Back in the day, WL had 16 teams. The promoters were the Natty title game teams.

The problem going back to that format is on a rare occasion, all 12 WL teams have a legit playoff shot. Usually it's more like around 10 with 2 that end up with 0-2 wins all season. A 12 team WL, at least at this point seems the most competitive.

Personally, even though you'd have some bottom feeders, expand it back to 16, ya it would give the top coordinators a day off. More importantly, it would hone more coords at the top level and give more builders the opportunity to have WL dots.

This is because if you go from a tier with 48 teams (old natty pro), to a tier with 12 teams, the difference in ability/talent is going to be LARGE, and it doesn't make any logical sense.

It's not the # of WL teams that's the problem, its the fact that promoters and demoters travel from a league with top12 teams to a league with top60 teams, which is an insanely large jump, especially in a game that only has ~40-50 full human plateau teams. It Also means you only get a few competitive games a season that matter, which is not fun for anyone or good for practicing skill level.

Hence my post on league structure. Having a top12 tier, then a top24 tier, then a top36 tier is going to give people the ability to improve and practice with the most "even" teams we can find.

I like the suggestion of Top-12 Tier, followed by a Top-24 Tier, then a Top-36 Tier. I assume from the Top-24, it would be the 4 teams participating in the two title games that would advance to WL, correct?

As far as the Top-36, that would be 3 leagues so what would be the promo format for that? The Top-24 would actually have 8 demotions, so how would it work with 3 leagues trying to come up with an 8 team promo?

EDIT: No matter what, 7-8 season peak would be ideal

Visualized here with promotion/relegation: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eg_ar5WTsOwGxS3OeLW60LdPDtlfekKwd1K3xFyg4bU/edit?usp=sharing

To be clear: 1-lane wide ladder.
Teams 1 -> 12
Teams 13 -> 24
Teams 25 -> 36
etc.
