A long weekend for me as hit the doctor up yesterday for a pinkie toe injury suffered in the great outdoors. Nothing broken but the whole foot is swollen and gives me a reason to wear flip flops in the office as the pinkie toe is larger than my big toe and when you wear 16's it's freaking huge. I'l live. Now, let's jump into what we've been missing (spoiler - not a lot). Two weeks left on the year and only one playoff spot up for grabs and then some seeding left in play.

LEAGUE SURVIVOR
Four left but two were eliminated. We are down to two participants: SHINKANSEN and PiedPiperofPlainfield...good luck.

PICKS:

Scott's Turfbuilders @ Not Fast, Just Furious - Will not be a pretty ending...150-0.

Chile Chupacabras @ Running Gag - Gag won easily in the season opening and nothing tells me this game will be any different...60-6.

Vancouver Gorillas @ Magua's Revenge - The Gorillas have finished strong going 4-1 in their last five but they've not faired well against the league power fives and the Revenge is a power five who beat them handily the first go around...45-14.

Sofia Spiders @ Manhattan Midnight Warriors - Spiders coming home strong and the Warriors have zero to play for...100-0.

Grand Rapids River Rats @ Charlestown Chiefs - The Chiefs welcomed to them in week one with an 86 point win and they'll keep rolling heading down the home stretch...69-0

Game of the week - LG Canucks @ Tlingit Warriors
MK must be nuts having a pair of 4-10 teams as game of the week. Well, this game is likely going to play heavily into the final West playoff spot and they did play a tight one in week one (26-24 in favor of the Warriors). The Warriors have a bye in week 16 so this nearly becomes a must win for LG. They have a beatable opponent in week 16 in Chile (who they lost to by 11 in their first meeting). Anyway, that's why. Both these teams hit the air waves in the first game with the Warriors throwing for 407.5 yards and LG going for 379.5. The down side was that there were 11 picks thrown in the game (7 by the Warriors and 4 by LG). Another take is that there were nine three and outs in the first half by both teams - any of the two who can establish an early lead and force those picks is going to hold a key here. I do think we may see some more running by both of these teams as the Warriors ran for 42.5 and LG 18 (but only on one carry).

Drum roll please - I'd normally go with the home team who's using a nacho promotion but the QB has 39 picks that leads the league and he threw for seven in the first game. Having played LG I've thrown my fair share of picks. The issue will be whether LG can produce points off the picks. You get to 30 in this one and you'll win...LG 31 Tlingit 28

Little light - back in the office after not doing anything from home yesterday...and I have a staff infection...body breaking down as I near fiddy.

Awesome write-up!

It's that time of year - the second season...THE PLAYOFFS. A congrats on battling through the season to make the playoffs (early good luck to all - except when playing my team). I won't go into in depth coverage until the next round. Enough of my chit chatting...let's get on with it.

TOURNEY ACTION

Championship: Running Gag vs. Charlestown Chiefs - Chiefs keep moving on of their league dominance with a 27-20 overtime win against the Gag.

Third Place Game: Vancouver Gorillas vs. Sofia Spiders - Spiders roll to claim the bronze in a 92-20 blow out.

PLAYOFF POWER RANKINGS
1. Charlestown Chiefs - Has the best regular season record at 15-1 and coming off an OT win in the tourney over Gag. Looking sharp on both sides of the ball ranking third in scoring offense (62.6) and first in points allowed (11.2)
2. Sofia Spiders - One of the hottest teams in the league with a current six game win streak including wins over Chiefs and Revenge. Fourth in the league in scoring at 59.4 and only giving up 14.3 a game (3rd best).
3. Running Gag - Not talked about a great deal but only have two losses and played in the tourney final. They are second in the league in scoring at 64.1 and have the second best per point average D at 12.6.
4. Magua's Revenge - Three of the four losses were tight games so can they win when they need to? They get nearly 50 a game (49.4) while they only give up 14.8 (4th in league).
5. Not Fast, Just Furious - Surprised a bit but faded late in tight games. Have the leagues most potent offense at 67.6 ppg but have given up 17.6 (5th).
6. Chile Chupacabras - Played a much stronger second half to finish at 8-7-1. Have not beat the top two teams in the conference but can score at 52.6 a game (5th) but give up over three TD's a game (23.1).
7. Vancouver Gorillas - Come in with a losing record and did not beat any of the three conference teams a head of them. Gave up 37.3 ppg while only scoring 22.6.
8. LG Canucks - One of two teams with a losing record and did not beat any of the other seven teams (note, did get a tie against Chile). Gave up nearly 30 ppg (29.8) while only getting 22.6 out of their offense.

Side note - Five teams averaged over 50 ppg while Revenge nearly made it six with a 49.4 ppg average.

PLAYOFF PICKS

WEST

LG Canucks @ Running Gag: LG has not played well in their two meetings against Gag having been outscored 110-3 during the regular season. QB Shook is a key for the Canucks and the Running has put the gag order out on him allowing only a hair over 40% of his passes to be completed (34/84). Gag has had their way on both sides of the ball and LG will need a miracle to pull off the upset (like US over Russia in hockey) and I don't see it happening...38-6.

Chile Chupacabras @ Not Fast, Just Furious: My boys averaged a 29.5 ppg average win in the two games during the regular season but we don't discount us not tackling well. We expect a much closer game in the playoffs with this veteran team but expect to win...34-23.

EAST

Vancouver Gorillas @ Charlestown Chiefs - This is a tough one for the Gorillas as they've not played the Chiefs tough in recent years (S72 63, 48 and 58 point losses; S73 a 101 point loss; and this season losses of 44 and 77 points). It's an uphill battle that will be tough for them to overcome. The Gorillas made the playoffs but it will be short lived and the exit harsh...66-10.

Magua's Revenge @ Sofia Spiders - Whew, what a match up in round one. This could very well be a title game in many aspects. The teams split their regular season games each winning at home. In their most recent game Sofia hung 48 on the Revenge but did use a mini helmet promotion. That game was 17-9 heading into the 4th before Magua's had a complete meltdown and gave up some big plays en route to being outscored 31-10 in the final stanza. Expect a battle for four quarters here and it will come down to the wire.

Revenge Keys
1. Have their BIG wins against the power five when holding them under 20 - the D must rise to the occassion here.
2. Need to win the turnover battle and force the Spiders into some costly turnovers.
3. Keep that potent Spider O off the field by getting that ground game going.

Spider Keys
1. Hit some big plays in that passing game.
2. Stuff the run (149 yards to the two backs in the loss; only 55.5 to the two in the win).
3. The Free Nachos will help the Spiders in this one as every advantage will help out in this one.

MK'S Pick - I like the home team with a little boost in a hotly contested game...27-24

INTERSTING FACT
There are 96 regular season game played this past Casual Pro season but only 10 were decided by one score (8 or less).

MK'S COACH OF THE YEAR
Going with LB_85. LG won just five games on the season and even had a tie in there to go along with those 10 losses. However, what stood out to me was the playoff run. The Canucks needed to win their week 15 game against the Warriors or their season was over. They won - onto week 16 where they had a five to four advantage in wins over the Warriors. The Warriors won getting to five and LG was the underdog against Chile (having lost to them 11 in the earlier match up). They needed a win or face the tie breaker God's. Turns out they didn't need a win as they played Chile to a tie and that was one less loss than the Warriors - securing the LG playoff spot. Came down to the final two weeks for this team against some heavy odds but they bucked up and accepted the challenge.

CASUAL PRO FUTURES
If we take a look at the Regional Pro Casual Elite #1 we will see who the next four teams that will be brought up will be. Overall, not a top to bottom strong four as I'd say only the first two teams listed will have a full roster and be ready to roll on day one. I'd advise the Warriors, River Rats and other Warriors to consider a league swap with one of the up and comers as most have old or non filled rosters and to keep the league as competitive as possible.

1. San Dimas Saints - Looking sharp as they carry a 45 game win streak heading into the playoffs. Owner croxley has a full roster and should be highly competitive next season.
2. Las Vegas Chaos - Full roster of youngsters (73's) and we'll see if owner rj24221 can get his dots ready to roll next season.
3. Alabama Yellowhammers - Has a full roster but some older dots slatter the roster. I belive the team would struggle mightily unless they did a major roster overhaul.
4. Juarez Jalapeņos - CPU and older dots. It would be stat stuffer game playing them.
=====================
Good luck to all in the playoffs.

This quote is a little sad though. Hopefully some of the CasPro Futures can tighten things up a bit.
