this seems like a bunch of teams would fight to win one of the 4 regular leagues,w hich would be stupid.

alright gotta do some work for a bit - I like the 2nd idea so I'm just going to remove the original idea and we'll work/discuss the 2nd one.

Also, regionalism is stupid. If it weren't an option, people wouldn't care. Name them something else besides regions.

I mean, you might as well call them religions, and people can join the Islam league or the Catholic conference of the Christian league.

Make up something for the names, but don't make them something people will argue over that has nothing to do with the game.

Idea #2

This is a bit of a merger on the Hemisphere idea and how minor leagues work. Basically it would work like this:

Western Hemisphere (equivalent to Elite #1)
Eastern Hemisphere (equivalent to Elite #2)

Western Hemisphere Feeder leagues
North America
South America
Europe

Eastern Hemisphere Feeder leagues
Oceania
Africa
Asia

Promotion/Demotion

The top 8 teams (winner of first round playoff games) from each Hemisphere would promote to World League. The bottom 16 teams (non playoff teams) from World League would demote to Hemisphere. The bottom 16 teams from each Hemisphere (non playoff teams) would demote back down to Feeder leagues. The losers of first round playoff games from each Hemisphere would be the only teams that would remain. There would be 8 open slots for each Hemisphere. They would be taken by the conference championship game participants in each feeder league and then the next 2 best teams based on current tiebreakers (W-L record first).

The bottom four teams from each conference for each feeder league (total of 48 teams) would demote to Regional Pro. Promoting teams from Regional Pro would take those slots.

I like this much better than OP. Maybe make a second suggestion with this idea so the votes against the original idea can be counted separate than people's feelings on this?

your first idea was better, but the implementation was wrong.

This is a global game, so the regions do make sense.

What if we could keep our affilation?

Like how the WL is now, just have a little badge by our names. That would be kind of cool

16 teams drop from WL now...

Doesn't mean 16 have to drop in future seasons.

Yeah, what if we can limit the amount of teams that drop from WL and only promote through the elite leagues?

I bet there are a lot of African people playing this game. The fact is, the majority of the players are from North America (which makes sense because this is North American football), while some are from the rest of the world (and I have been on teams with many). Having an equal number of USA leagues as African leagues is foolish.

Call them something else that will defeat the pointless regionalism.

Edit - Removed original suggestion after discussion. Replaced with below.

Let's face it. It's the only league level that has it's own unique structure and the question is why? The main reason is people want their regional affiliations. I am suggesting that for the good of the game we have to revamp this a bit and make the game about having competitive leagues that make sense. This is a bit of a merger of the Hemispheres suggestion and how the regular minor league structures work. Basically it would work like this:

Western Hemisphere (equivalent to Elite #1)
Eastern Hemisphere (equivalent to Elite #2)

(we can work on the regions that are used here, this is just the general concept being outlined)

Western Hemisphere Feeder leagues
North America
South America
Europe

Eastern Hemisphere Feeder leagues
Oceania
Africa
Asia

Promotion/Demotion

The top 8 teams (winner of first round playoff games) from each Hemisphere would promote to World League. The bottom 16 teams (non playoff teams) from World League would demote to Hemisphere. The bottom 16 teams from each Hemisphere (non playoff teams) would demote back down to Feeder leagues. The bottom four teams from each conference for each feeder league (total of 48 teams) would demote to Regional Pro. Promoting teams from Regional Pro would take those slots.

Yeah, this is it here... Almost like another hemisphere idea I think somebody told me about once
