+1 i would also add that a defender should pass through another defender/blocker who are engaged..one of the most enraging things to me is when a wr blocks 3 guys at once. Either the 2nd defender should pass through the pile or the wr should be insta caked and the play continue.

The fact that this even has to be suggested is sad...

I think the slowdown to move through another players dot for the defense shold be minimised significantly. Vision checks aren't even needed. Having collisions detection for the defense and not the offense is crazy.

In fact, I might make height and weight mean something, so use a players height/weight to indicate their bulk and make the slight slowdown more or less based on the players attributes with modifications for agility, speed, vision, strength. Apply it globally for O and D and stop giving the offense a free pass.

For certain positions, have a position modifier that removes a set velocity figure (but never less than 0). Heck, even do it based on archetype and not position. So power backs who go through the line constantly get a small advantage over the agile backs who don;t go through the line but around them more. (But whose natural speed, agility, height weight etc may make up for this somewhat)

I agree though something needs done. Not sure pursuit angles and vision checks are going to fix it. But I'll vote for this anyway because something needs done.

Dude, it's the exactly the same as awareness in any sports video game you've ever played. What difference does it make what it's called?

What VISION check do you need to not run into a guy directly in front of your face.

VIS 0, OLB runs directly into the DE rushing up the field
VIS 1, OLB attempts to avoid the DE rushing up the field

How F'ing hard is it to see a 275 pound man. If you aren't blind you see him.

I don't think I've ever agreed with anything more than that.

Why do you think that vision checks are not already being made for this very purpose?

Defenders unable to path around each other at times is a persistent issue though.

It doesnt even need to be that complicated.

Speedster WR build is enough to generate the initial speed off the snap, and the block he throws is a cut block, not a missed block.
WR blocks FS, CB misses Vision check on the HB as he is in Man with +Pass tactics.
CB and FS start to pursue ball carrier once HB has passed the LoS.

The block doesnt look like a Bug.

Defenders unable to path around each other at times is a persistent issue though.

Why can offensive players run through other offensive players and defensive players cannot do the same? Is there any chance that a change can be made to avoid defensive players from setting picks against each other like the offense does?

Yes, I fully realize that it is just a visual representation, but quite often defensive dots will run into another defensive dot who is being blocked and get "stuck". An offensive dot would have run through that if the roles were reversed.

Offensive players do actually try to avoid each other somewhat, though I don't think they do so when running routes. Blockers avoid each other some, though not as much as the ball carrier avoids his own guys. If we switched things up where the blockers avoided each other more, we'd tend to see a lot of holes with blockers getting in each others' way a lot, especially on pass blocking. Blitzers going through each other would make for a LOT more sacks. It's important to have some of that "clogged up" idea in place to keep nano-blitz type stuff in check. Might make some sense to lessen the avoid radius on pass coverage, though. I can't say without testing it.

OK so don't fix this when a dot is blitzing. But when not blitzing LBs should be allowed to run free.

I remember watching a football game once and seeing defenders run into each other sometimes.

I think the intention of the OP is that if the player fails the vision check, they run into their own team mates 'as usual'.
