I hesitate to ever say anything is set in stone because as history has proven we have made changes after an announcement has been made. That being said, it's extremely unlikely that we revert this decision or take an alternative approach. This was something we discussed since the beginning of the year, spent a lot of time evaluating, and feel this is the best direction for GLB to take.

As a DC and, Team owner I will be patient and, wait to see if this is what will be the right path. I would like to see the liabrary on both side's of the ball be oppened up, and, a boat load more plays to use. Dcing is a job more so then OCing, but either way time will have to be spent if you want to win in this game.

Yeah, we would like to submit our entire playbook

I guess if you had a ton of different defensive backbones with the same basic plays in all of them (albeit 30+ plays per backbone) then that'd be cool.

Thanks for the response.

Don't count on that.

The same thing that hunt the coders now will hunt them if they will try to generate a playbook as big as the one you want. I belive in Catch's good intentions but he got this one wrong.

Again, this is another problem and shows why the DPC is more like real football.

The exploits have been getting out of hand again of late.....some SB/SG stuff is dead.

Sometimes you have to walk back the way you came to make the correct turn.

what i don't understand is the desire to remove one of the most unique and compelling aspects of the game.

my level of interest in DCing just dropped substantially. While it will likely be easier and slightly less time-consuming once you figure out which plays work, I can't imagine DCs will be as effective.

I don't understand how you make this decision without consulting the userbase first as a minimum. Shit, if you guys like polls so much why the hell wasn't this polled -- so at least you have an idea of how it will affect people's interest/mentality.

Catch, I understand the logic of this..you guys can't figure out how to fix blocking logic and there are a ton of "exploits" so let's just kill this thing at the root and forget about custom D's.

If we are going the route of making the game simpler and nerfing extreme builds...why don't we just remove the advanced AI all together, everybody goes casual...less work on our end too and just make this more "Arcadish".

I don't think any of us here are having a better time now then in season 3-4.

EDIT: horribly off topic but those yelling about an O play creator need to stop talking. That would create more exploits than this one did. If you can't understand then you probably have no business in this discussion about the DPC.

it doesnt take very long to scout an opponent now with the new tools that were introduced recently. before, it took slightly longer.

with the DPC, I can scout the best team in less than half an hour and kill them with a lesser squad:

this takes any skill from the game. you are designing this game for the suckers.

listen toi them cheer. cheer you turkeys.
now you won't suck even tho u never bothered to learn to play.

80% of the NFL runs 80% of the same plays. So yeah pretty much everyone runs the same stuff. Its starting to get different with more spread formations and junk defense...but still nearly the same for every team.

This will be a divisive idea. Most people are ok with the DPC even if they don't love it. However, this change will cause some people to hate it and some to love it. That is basically dumping half the userbase. The DPC was something that most people liked.

dont forget the other things causing imbalance. VAs, and % eq

those should be removed as well

I gotta say I don't have much faith in the playbooks being big enough to keep it interesting. Here we are in season 18 and we still don't have offensive playbooks that have any decent amount of variation, no 4 wide sets, no double TE sets, no trips split to one side etc. Using that timetable the defensive playbook will be half done in season 36. Terrible idea as far as I'm concerned.

Pretty much this. Would strongly urge GLB to do this first before removing the DPC.

All that's really necessary to stop "exploit" blitzing is the ability to assign the HB/FB blocking assignments. With this done the HB doesn't move the the right when a OLB and FS are coming from the left.

And make them so they're adept at it.Right now they pass pro like a one legged man in a ass kicking contest.
