pretty much. now you'll have to rely on lolcasual tactics to stop them

I gotta say I don't have much faith in the playbooks being big enough to keep it interesting. Here we are in season 18 and we still don't have offensive playbooks that have any decent amount of variation, no 4 wide sets, no double TE sets, no trips split to one side etc. Using that timetable the defensive playbook will be half done in season 36. Terrible idea as far as I'm concerned.

We plan on adding all of those formations to the offensive side.

is this set in stone? or are you actually considering people's suggestions (eg. restrict dline movement in the dpc)

I hesitate to ever say anything is set in stone because as history has proven we have made changes after an announcement has been made. That being said, it's extremely unlikely that we revert this decision or take an alternative approach. This was something we discussed since the beginning of the year, spent a lot of time evaluating, and feel this is the best direction for GLB to take.

I really hope this decision goes the way of coaches because this is the worst decision GLB has made in a long time. Not only is it the wrong approach to balance issues, but it will make the game so incredibly boring.

Isn't this what casual leagues are for...... and we see how active those leagues are.... terrible decision...

The difference between the NFL and GLB running the same plays is Dots can't think. They do a given action based on parameters set by the programmer.

There will be plays in the playbook designed for rushing QB's for every possible formation.

Not really.
Run a 3-2-6 against it, no shifts. Tag the QB as a rusher, and bring everyone but the FS. Use the FS as a zone in case you miss a tackle up the middle.
Edit: you meant casual. Sorry, my bad.

I may not be a dotball coordinator...but yes I know quite a bit about football. If you argue with my previous statement then you do not.

Catch, I understand the logic of this..you guys can't figure out how to fix blocking logic and there are a ton of "exploits" so let's just kill this thing at the root and forget about custom D's.

If we are going the route of making the game simpler and nerfing extreme builds...why don't we just remove the advanced AI all together, everybody goes casual...less work on our end too and just make this more "Arcadish".

I don't think any of us here are having a better time now then in season 3-4.

Problem is the exploit blitz almost always gets there and if it doesn't it still has great effect. We lost a game 180 something to nothing because of exploits. Games shouldn't be determined by ethics.

well, they could remove the DEs and LBs that are being used in exploit blitzes, but that would probably be met with even more resistance.

Why not keep the DPC, but have more static position movement? Eliminate the massive amount of possible player positions, but keep the unique ability to mix up coverages. I just think a massive play library is absolutely silly. You already have something coded that works great. All you need to do is limit the amount of movement, not eliminate the whole damn thing ffs.
