Me loves... anyways there has been a lot discussed on it. I would think Bort should chime in on how "doable" this is. Or if it is even something he is pondering. You are more or less adding a second component of GLB. Even though there are tourneys now, this would make them official and begin opening doors for more segmented parts of GLB (IE locked leagues).

I doubt there is a significant portion of coding for this. It would be more of stealing from the current code and slapping something together. Essentially taking the playoffs and scrimmages coding. Then adding some forums and additional webpages.

+1

I like being able to decide what day they on, but perhaps making a "deadline"? I don't know how that would be enforced or utilized without running into issues.

I don't like the idea of games being randomly selected. I think the current system of letting the Owners set it up amongst themselves works just fine.

Some good stuff in there. I do like the idea of a game simming every day.

This happens now from time to time, just make sure they are 6-7 hours apart.

Hey guys, just wanted to chime in. Been looking over the thread, and I really like this idea, as I've been a big proponent of tournaments.

I can't promise anything, but I will talk this over with Bort when I get a chance and see if he can give an option one way or another (a maybe at least and some more fine tuning can go on). Lots of good ideas going on here, and while there are definitely some things to iron out, I personally think this would be a good addition to the game.

With the support of an Admin who helps with tournaments, I feel this could definitely head in the right direction.

I realize there are more important things to be done right now like, you know, FIXING THE SIM OMG! But these are features that I firmly believe should be looked at some time down the line for further development of a more refined, and defined end game.

With that said the purpose of these suggestions is to add secondary 'official' features to the game to keep people interested in their leagues, and GLB on their team/players off day.

Again I just want to put these ideas out there for the Dev team, (Bort) to consider as features that would be a great compliment to the sim engine, once he considers it done.
One of the biggest complaints about GLB is there isn't enough official content to do during player down time.

Also to stimulate interest in the mostly dormant league forums:

Official Automated Tournaments
* Driven by a ingame sign up form, with registrations filtered by league / ladder (AAA / Pro or Pro / WL) sign up page that auto-generates a tournament schedule without teams having to individually schedule games themselves.
- Automatically deduct 25 (or cost) flex per round, per team
- Possibly pool 50% of the Flex charged as a prize for the winning owner

GLB Generated Bracket Contests (I know Bracketmaster is a 3rd party option right now, and again no rush, but this really should be a feature built in to the interface to make competitions and contests native to the site. Also provides an easier mechanism for Trophy Automation, and prize distribution)
Examples: Addicts - http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=3606962
etc etc

Auto Generated League Pick'em forms
- Generated along with the schedule additional page that allows users to select one of two radio boxes for each weeks' schedule, and automatically tracks the record of each agent playing along each week.
- Declares winner at the end of the season

Rewards for Mini Games:
A) Flex Pools collected from participants / user sponor
- Allow users to put flex in to a contest / bracket / tournament pool for automatic dispersal to winners, directly from their account to avoid paypal transaction
- To avoid abuse of this feature, limit it to Official GLB Sponsered / Approved Events
B) Trophy.jpg's added to a separate area of an Agents Trophy cause for winning contests
C) Tab on user page to track lifetime records in Pick 'em / Brackets / Survivor

League Survivor Contests -
- Example WL Survivor run by Abstract Actuary, it's been a huge success and drives traffic in an a sometimes mundane league forum
http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=3568518

Rivalry Records Tab -
- Separate Tab on Team Profile / Record Area that allows owners to select recurring opponents and record 'lifetime' statistics against that team for others / their team to view
- Track all time highs for each side in each statistical category
i.e. USC vs Notre Dame
USC leads Lifetime Series 33 games to 2
Most Rushing Yards in Rivalry: Bob Dole -1.5 yards (Season 22)

- This could help to bring back a loved element of the game that has been missing since the early seasons.

- Allowing team owners to select their own rivalries personalizes the battle.

I have more ideas, but I'm tired so I'll stop here for now.

I agree. Also, add soccer style ones in which teams are placed in groups of four, play every other team, two teams with best record go through to knockouts.
