That's all..pump these and maybe throw in a few SAs. Doesn't seem that hard, although I haven't made one myself yet.

at later levels, sure. but until you have enough vision to actually make a cut, an excess of speed just means you run straight into coverage faster.

i always say:
- increase carrying so that you don't fumble, then
- increase vision until you cut (or make the right cut), then
- increase agility until you can cut without a significant loss in speed, then
- increase speed until you can squeeze down the sideline

better to increase your return averages by a little than to constantly gamble on the incredibly slim chance that you'll run back the big one.

This seems like a good way to build, although you won't reap the rewards until you reach the end of the building pattern

well, yeah... to some degree, i phrase it that way for effect. most returners are CBs (for the 'return specialist' SA), so speed/agility/vision are all major leveling skills. so it's not that tough to keep them proportionate to the rest of the build. really, you only need to think about carrying if you're fumbling... but for the middle stretches, it's all about vision so that you can make that crucial cut (hopefully in the right direction).

I was talking about final build and not how to get there

How much vision do you think is necessary? I have a CB who is completely not specialized for kick returning, but he's by far the fastest guy on the team so he's returning kicks tomorrow. How much vision is a good guess to get me to make the right cuts?

my observation is that you start making cuts (usually to the left) at 20+ vision... and then that cut gets earlier and sharper as vision increases. i didn't see any counter-cuts or cuts to the right until 30+... and it wasn't until ~40 that it seemed the returner was being smart about cuts. others may have had a different experience.

Well you could say that in a way.

Agility really means how fast you can stop running in one direction, and start running in another direction. You could say that since a person has high agility and is able to change directions fast, he can start running sooner and get to top speed faster.

Go ahead and keep listening to guys like this, who not only do not have a KR who has actually produced something, but who DO NOT EVEN HAVE ONE AT ALL!

Speed, until speed is maxed out and all equipment is + speed > Agility to 40+> KR SA to 4+.

THEN vision to 40 and some super vision.

Train strength before carrying strength > carrying.

If you put actual points into carrying you are a moron.

Waiting to up any of your other stats until you can get speed up to 100 is going to make you very useless for a long time. If I calculated it right, starting with a starting speed of 15, it would take until level 23 to get to 100 speed if you don't train one other attribute.

I'm sure my guy's low in the stamina. I've gotten a couple runs where he cuts two to three times. Near his 4th-6th return though, the cuts are gone and he's back to running into the pile. Stamina is my next address.
