I've never taken anything beyond 77. For a few positions (C, K, P), stopping at 77 will land you roughly at 100 in the late 40s, on your first attribute.
For most positions, I prefer stopping at 73, since a lot of dots need multiple attributes at 49-61 or higher.
Example: CB
http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=908719I stopped at 73 speed & agility. It's at 77 now on both.
Example: OG
http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=954301I stopped at 77 strength & blocking. They're at 86 and 80 now.
In retrospect, G is one position where I would take strength to 80 if I make another G.
For the +1 gainers, here's a K:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1615529Took kicking to 77. At level 46, he'll hit 100 natural kicking, then 1 training session will bring him to 101 natural. Going beyond 77 in this case makes zero sense to me. I'd like confidence to be up nearly as high as kicking, so those SP can be better spent there. Also, there's the fact that kickers seem to randomly perform. I've got what would appear to be a horribly built kicker, by today's incredible lolbar standards, and he performs just fine.
The low gainers (natural level-up progression) are where you get the most benefit from taking any single attribute high.
