It would be nice, but it would only be able to do the offense tbh. You can go and make a 4-4, 5-2, 3-5, etcetc with the DAI creator and it would never know the difference from the base that you used to make it. To much flexibility withint the D creator and no way for the sim to know what you really ran.

Huh? Just display the name of the custom play being run.

+1 btw...I can't believe this hasn't at least been made epic before.

+1, this is an awesome idea, especially for the defensive plays. I have a lot of DPC plays that look similar.

Actually, shouldn't the sim have access to the DPC plays' names? I mean, it obviously has access to the custom plays, because otherwise it ... you know... wouldn't know what the players should do.

I really don't see much down side to this suggestion.

Okay, so here's a perfect example of why this needs to happen.

Last game my team played: http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=903120&mode=pbp

The guy on the depth as WR2 is getting way more plays than I call for (he's my guy so I guess that's ok )

On first down he's in the OAI as the primary receiver 15% of the time. 41.4% of the first down plays went to him.
On second down and >3 ytg he's on the OAI as the primary receiver 10% of the time. 38.9% of the 2nd & >3 plays went to him.

Is this because the QB is doing checkdowns? Did the OAI just decide to have a torrid love affair with my receiver? Is the QB seeing an open man instead of letting routes develop? If I the replay told me which play was being called it would make my life a lot easier.

If it just displayed the output name it would work for me. I don't necessarily need to see the defensive formation written out, I can see what it is on the field.

How would the sim NOT know what you ran? It's the one that picks the plays out of your playbook based on the inputs from itself. O_o

something as simple as giving each o and d play an id(which i'm sure they already have) and then adding that idto the replay data would allow some pretty tight scripts

then once that is in place, allow the play id to include custom d play ids. if you dont have access to the team's D AI, then that id would mean nothing to you, but for DC's they'd be able to see which custom d play was called

wouldnt have to change anything visible on the page, just a little variable added to the replay data object

just repeating from another thread. add this id and let scripts do all the display work until bort can get around to doing the page changes himself

Truth.

If you are limiting this to OC/DC/Owner who all theoretically have access to the playbooks used then it should (in theory) greatly simplify the process since you've already selected for that during the replay "setup" ... after that point it is a "simple" matter of referencing.

The long term problem would be re-normalization of those reference table dependencies after changes in the DPC/OPC which could remove entries. The best solution would be to create a single temporary reference table which is cleaned out and reloaded each game, with the last game's play index referenced against whatever D/O Play index.

This has been suggested before, but is lost in the sands of time.
