When you watch plays in the replay, there is no reason not to go ahead and display the formations for both offense and defense for everyone. Most of us can figure it out, but having it displayed would save the effort of counting CBs and WRs and so forth.

Anyone with OC privileges for a given team should instead see the actual offensive play called by his team. Similarly, anyone with DC privileges for a team should see exactly which defensive play was called by his team.

You could put that information just between the time down and distance line (Q1 13:11 etc) and the result line that pops up after the play is complete. So it'd be something like:

Q1 13:11 2nd & 10 on OPP 39
Strong I HB Sweep Strong vs. 4-3 Defense
Dino Bianchini, Jr. pitch to Bit Blaster, PAT made by Chris F. Arley [TD] up the middle (39 yard gain)

The play should be a hoverable link that shows an image of the play when you hover over it.

How about for offense they name the play, but for defense and the DC, show what your players are supposed to do, like it shows on the DPC, during the play?

It would be cool to have a partially transparent overlay that you could toggle on and off.

But I think it would be simpler to just name the ... play. Failing that, it would be helpful to just post the name of the output in the AI (assuming it didn't come from basic AI).

maybe just have it say "Using Basic Defensive AI" or the actual Play called if there is one. Which would help coordinators also if they are using the advanced AI and it shows the "using Basic" text, they would know that something didn't match any input and can easily find and fix it.

edit--added some quotes from the thread, including the thrilling Bort quote

I have a lot of inputs and outputs. It would save me a lot of time diagnosing problems in the AI and plays. I think it would probably even cut down on Forum posts about the wrong 'this or that' being made just by mistake.

It would be nice, but it would only be able to do the offense tbh. You can go and make a 4-4, 5-2, 3-5, etcetc with the DAI creator and it would never know the difference from the base that you used to make it. To much flexibility withint the D creator and no way for the sim to know what you really ran.

You could do the offensive play for anyone really, but restrict it to OC if you want.
Would be nice if the d-coordinator could see the name of the specific named DPC play if it is a custom play.

Perhaps the owner can set who has access to view it on replay?
