Maybe Bort could add some sort of flag option, where a small icon appears by the team name to denote that. Or, a drop down. Then it could be an option in the team search.

The problem with that of course, it'd be abused. You'd have some dork say his team is Spanish speaking, and then act like an ass to all whp PM him. So, it might have to be a manual thing the admins do by request.

Don't ever worry about not suggesting something because another group may attack. That's easily fixed with a few clicks.

I would *guess* Bort would put them in the GLB section, so yeah they would be right in there.

Would they be able to locate that forum easily, though?

Links would be in the welcome PM

Rather than a generic uber-PM on welcome, why not have people register what languages they speak at account creation and then provide only relevant links?

Put all options in your OP please. Makes it easier for Bort to see options when he browses Epic.

The key is to have as much info as possible, but in cliff notes and not a huge book to read.

I think Alternative Language Forums is a good idea, and if one language over posts alot in it or eventually as alot of posts are in this forum, it could be sub-forumed into sub-sections, like Spanish, French, etc. or any other languages that there are mininum posts atleast....

+1 to the "ALTERNATIVE LANGUAGE FORUMS" addition....

Note: I wouldn't wanna a main forum for each individual language on the main forum index.........as it would take ages for the forums to load after awhile with this will probably always be expanding as other non-english native speakers keep joing the GLB game.

I really think it's best to just start off with a forum for each language. Make a "Foreign Languages" top-level forum (like Suggestions, GLB, Bugs, etc) and in there have "Spanish", "French", "Thai", etc forums. Each language-specific mod would only be for that language (if that's possible). So like, Spanish Mod, French Mod, Thai Mod, etc.

Yeah, I would agree with this - but each language could only be added if we have Mods or trusted Translators who can keep an eye on it. Would be a bad idea to have a, say French forum, if no French/English speaking person with a good record wants to donate their time to watch over it.

I agree.

I have a question. Could this not be solved by either an implementation or script that is designed to DISPLAY everything in a particular language? Like a selectable account setting or something? Rather than actually making additional forums for it, could an option to display it in alternative languages not be created?

Could you change the option one in your original post to the top of the PM, not the bottom?

I doubt a person who couldn't follow it would scroll all the way down, but would look at the top.

I would think that it would translate it like on a translation site, so wouldn't be completely accurate. Are tenses etc possible via greasemonkey?

I think a live person will always be better than a script.

I think this could work, at least for translating the basic things. We certainly don't need EVERYTHING translated, but things like the menu bar, tabs, forum titles, etc. would be a benefit.

Perhaps we should pull pabst into this, and simply draft up a generic script in which we could manipulate for each language.

That would take part of the effort out of Bort/Thorne or whoever would spearhead the effort.

This.

Plus, Bort spending time on making the sim better > Bort spending time on coding translations, implimenting some software, etc.

That is a legit point. Tbh, since I don't know the first thing about making a script, I have no idea if its possible. I was just thinking in the regards, actually, of translators, while they're not 100% accurate, usually they get things in the 'vacinity' and able to be easily understood. With a script, it would be a bit more dynamic and challenging I think,

Edit: btw, I was referring to someone like Pabst making a script via greasemonkey and not Bort having to put off other things even more to do it for those wondering.
