I know there is a formula in physics to find out what force two objects have on each other where you can use various angles of approach. I remember doing it in high school, don't know what it is though. Surely someone here does. Bort could use it, than add in end products for break tackle chance, etc.

Yeah, I never paid attention and dropped that class lol

If it was in high school physics, I'm SURE somebody could figure this out.

Love this idea. Weight should definitely play more of a factor. Give it more weight, if you will. With DE's, it doesn't seem to matter if you weigh 235 or 290, you can be either a fleet pass rusher or a stout run stopper regardless of your weight. Unrealistic IMO.

Any more input? I'd like this to get serious consideration.

There's been quite a bit of discussion about making weight more a factor within the game. I think the basic idea is to have weight be a modifier for a few different things, making things like speed and agility relative rather then absolute. As it is now a DE with 100 speed runs nearly as fast as a WR with 100 speed, because they have nearly the same absolute maximum value (weight actually does factor in a LITTLE right now, but it's a very small amount). Instead, I think we want to move more towards a system where a DE would need 100 speed to run as fast as a 60 speed WR.

Note that this is pure speculation and opinion. Nothing has been decided yet and I'm not sure if Bort has even said anything about it.

Well, hopefully we can be kept in the loop as to any whether any of the "powers that be" make a reference or decision on this one way or another. I think it would go a LONG ways in balancing out the game, and potentially make those "nerfs" useless.

I've been working on some other equations relating to force (powerbacks, blocking) but haven't found the sweet spot yet.

Solution B is the best. You should be able to build your player the way you want. If you want a 70 speed C, then go for it. It will just cost you a ton of SP (possibly too much to be possible).

The weight thing will limit people and result in cookie cutter builds.

-1. You cannot choose your height and weight so I do not agree.

I'd prefer a system where a DE would need to invest far more skill points to achieve the same speed as a WR. It could be based off the current exponential SP investment system so that, for example, a speed of 90 would be physically impossible for a DE to achieve.

Not necessarily. There will be a variance in power and speed builds for almost each position. Lighter offensive linemen will be more swift, while heavier will be more power. Heavier LBs will be more geared for the inside, while lighter will be more for the outside, etc. It'll force more "variance" than currently available.

If you would read any of the other suggestions, we've addressed that. Whether it be via offseason weight training, or being able to roll specifically for weight/height. Please read the post in its entirety, please.

I don't think it should cost as much, because I don't think it should by "physically possible" for a 285lb DE to run as fast as a 205lb WR. If we just simply make it more expensive, you're going to see more DEs who pump the hell out of their strength, take the SP hits, and just neglect attributes like strength. Then, you'll either see OLs doing the same shit, or you'll get nerfs.

This is supposed to make nerfs obsolete.

i dont like the idea. i think if your 100 speed your 100 speed. cuz if a DE is 100 speed and so is a running back then great. but im guessing the DE neglected to put points into other things that matter. thus making him a big fast guy? who is only a decent football player. goes back to the realistic. track stars dont make good football players. they just can make good plays from time to time

So you're totally okay with a 300lb DT running just as fast as a 200lb RB? Not realistic in any sense. All players being equal is the reason there are so many issues with the sim.

oki obviously theres some touchy areas with it but the only way to fix the problem i think would be putting weight caps. so anything over 270 would be slower at 100 speed then someone under. but i mean it wouldnt be unrealistic to say someone who is 250 cant run as fast as someone whos 180. vernon davis(spelling maybe) is the best example. kids big and faster then most people even smaller or lighter then him. i know what your saying it seems stupid to have like every d-lineman and LB or TE breaking the mold by being able to run as fast as the dbs and wrs. but it speed makes for an amazing player at those positions and everyone on here obviously wants an amazing player.
