There was a thread on this a few days ago, but it's gone now. However, I think that this is an important addition that could really help the game. There needs to be a new tactic for HBs about how they react with a FB or pulling Guard lead blocking for them. There would be three options as with most other tactics:

Follow the Lead Blocker until he makes his block- This option would force the HB to stay behind the FB until the FB engages a defender in a block. If the FB is significantly slower than the HB, then the HB will have to slow down to avoid running past the FB.

Follow the Lead Blocker unless there are no defenders around- This one would have the HB follow the FB if there are defenders in the immediate area. If there are no defenders within X number of yards (number of yards possibly set by player?) and the HB passes a Vision check to see that there are no defenders, then he abandons the FB and goes around him at full speed.

Ignore the Lead Blocker and try to make the play solo- Using this setting, the HB will completely ignore the FB, getting up to full speed as fast as possible and trying to make a play by himself. Probably useful if your FB is REALLY slow or a terrible blocker.

As it stands, a lot of HBs end up running past FBs/pulling Gs on plays, essentially making the FB/G a wasted blocker since the HB is already 3-5 yards downfield if the FB/G finally makes a block. These tactics would be able to help that and cause HBs to actually follow behind lead blockers like they do in real football.

EDIT: Changed to include pulling Guards, since one some play HBs plow straight ahead before th G can pull far enough to kick out the OLB and spring the HB to the second level.

Damn good idea....it's exactly what REAL HBs are taught to do.

I'm curious if this will ever be considered by Bort & Co.

Ugh, it's so frustrating to have to have 74 speed in a FB just so the HB can stay behind him.

My first thought after reading the OP was if this is true:

Then the HB clearly doesn't need a blocker since he's already achieved first down yardage.

Ok, so maybe the 10-15 yards was a bit of an exaggeration. It's just frustrating to see an HB run right past a FB and head-on into a waiting DT/MLB when if he had just waited for a fraction of a second, the FB could have picked up the block and sprung the HB for more yardage.

I agree. I am probably going to retire my FB because he is not a rusher and basically a worthless blocker (barely used anymore).

Oh, and if this isn't epic, I don't know what is.
