I'll start with a disclaimer that I'm relatively new to this game and I expect to be criticized for it in any replies to this post.

There are two main issues that come about with player retirement. The first is players being attached to their level 50+ stars and wanting to continue their career without decline. The other is the money lost if said players quit boosting these level 50+ stars.

I don't think this idea is a solution the the problem. In my opinion, there are a two obvious solutions to this problem. The first is to create a new league for players with a min level set around level 60 (or whatever the average retirement level would be). Let them continue to level as normal without decline. Maybe give them new set of VAs to invest in...something simple to implement that spice things up a bit.

The second is to give the player an option to continue to play with the decline and level as normal with their current teams/leagues. How many aged players leave their team and step into another role to help out a lesser team? Eventually the decline will "force" a retirement as the player will be worthless, but that veteran LB might be a season maker for a lesser team.

These two aren't mutually exclusive. Give people a choice to stay with their current teams/leagues and decline or move to the new league and continue their careers.

Adding more layers and complexity to the sim can't be the best solution to this problem. I'm more of the mindset that GMs/owners should focus on their current responsibilities of recruiting and game planning. Do we really want to add one more thing for them to spend their time on that will probably get changed once or more a season until the balance is found?

The Admin should be focusing on ways to fix current problems that threaten the integrity of the game, such as sim perfection and finding a way to make the game more competitive overall (aka gutted teams and slow-build teams).

Maybe I'm too conservative...but if we are going to add more layers to the base we have that base better be pretty damn solid. I don't think it is there quite yet.

the natural player decline will solve most probs. of people complaining " my 30th lvl WR isn't equal to this 40th lvl WR"
Vet Abilities can kiss my ass, as a player's performance declines, so does the importance of VA's.

Yep, and their legs aren't nearly what they were 10 years ago.

Martin Grammatica played at least two seasons too long, tbh.

iam just saying one idea on the retirement issue is that not all careers are created equal a kicker should have a longer career than lets say a hb. Look at shawn alexander, tiki , edgerrin james and lt as examples of how they burned out by age 30. Granted John Carney wasnt great by any means but he was at least servicable to the giants this yr in season 20.
