Still, an awesome and informative post. I will post a simlar one, with my level 1 blocking WR (will take quite a few seasons, obviously)Ok, here is my guy.....only really just started the blocking process though, and he has been turned into a hybrid of sorts, but it is valid info for this post.......
http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1287404I did have all his equipment in blocking, to make him a relative "blocking" WR, but then I quickly worked out that he didn't actually need much blocking, just strength (to pancake). His strength is around 70 now, and he just pancakes the CB, and moves on. I am going to work on blocking soon, and more agility, but he still remains a quality blocker on outside rushes, or if a pass lands to a receiver near him.
When in PeeWee leagues, he was a beast, and our Speedy HB (Clay Washington) got a LOT of TDs because of his blocks.
Oh, and because we cannot put a WR in a particular position, I had to changed him into a hybrid WR blocker, so he can actually catch passes now too, and then acts like a power back (got him on power running), and he usually just runs right over the CB.......it is actually quite funny to watch.
My verdict, is an out and out blocking WR isn't that useful, until a specific WR placement option comes in, but a hybrid blocking/receiver WR is pretty damn useful in a balanced or rush heavy team. If you get a Outside Rush, and Jafari Jackson-Jones is at WR3 (for example), and the HB runs his way, then he'll take a CB out, and maybe a LB too.
I am still on the fence tho' really.......I'll report back when my WR has softcapped blocking, as it could make him even more effective
