Whoa, I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem buried in the forum.

Yeah! It was a nice study. I'd still be interested to know what the OCs considered opinion is regarding the results on inside running vs outside running, as the data he presented was very outside oriented, but can't be greedy I guess.

Hey, I just noticed there was a question here for me

I can't say that I have any specific useful conclusions on inside vs. outside running. We did run mainly to the outside purely to take advantage of our stable of blocking WRs. Also, it's been 4 seasons since I was an OC, so the memories are fading fast.

I think we usually ran outside at least 70% of the time.

Ohhh, somebody stickied this. Nice!!!

FYI, I wrote this guide immediately after Season 3, so bear that in mind. I stopped being an OC after that season and fell out of touch with WR issues, so I won't be making any updates to it.

Nice to see people are finding the info useful, though

All three of my blocking WRs have retired now. The end of an era for me

Poor form. I'm just starting my blocking WRs.

Same here......

Still, an awesome and informative post. I will post a simlar one, with my level 1 blocking WR (will take quite a few seasons, obviously)

Nothing he posted is true.

Feel free to post some data to back up that assertion - I'd love to see it.

Extremely well-written and useful, thanks.

After a season's worth of running an all blocking WRs offense, I came to the conclusion that, while it definitely enhanced our running game, it was not enough to offset the hit we took in the passing game. If we had built regular WRs and spent out SP on regular receiving abilities,

It seems that since your experiment took place so early in the life of GLB, that your WRs only had 2 previous seasons to build, that those WRs really would have had to choose between good blocking and good receiving. I have a WR will be at 30 blocking in a day or so, just from spending a week or so each season training it up. All his points have gone into traditional WR attributes. I think he's turning into a useful blocker on outside runs, without giving up too much as a WR.

Yeah, very good guide. I had found training each to about 30 for my WRs to be useful once my main stats were good. Especially with recent changes to fix pitches. I do think the requirements may go up as some higher level cbs go for 50 strength to take advantage of the jackhammer VA.
