Wasn't incredibly unexpected. They've said that all of Cersei's children would die...and he was too weak for his own good.

That said, I'm not sure how Cersei becomes queen.

Not surprised that he died, rather about HOW he dies.

Cersei seized the throne as there were no (known) Baratheons left.
If I recall correctly though, Pod is a bastard of Robert.
If Jon Snow can become king as a bastard then it isn't out of reach for Pod, though likely tougher in King's Landing.

Oh, likely impossible because Pod would be dead.

I just figured Cersei would become some kind of temporary half measure. It seems like her actual claim to the throne is weak, though I guess anyone that could oppose it is dead.

I did find the Cersei thing kind of weird, though.

The past season or two has seemed like they were beating her down to seem more "human". Then they just do a full 180 and go past Ramsay on the crazy scale. Feels like a lot of character development to say fuck it and turn her back into the unlikable big bad.

Also, why was Varys on the boat?

Did he sail from Meereen to Westeros to make a pact with Dorne, then sail all the way back to Meereen, just to sail all the way back to Westeros?

I was also curious about the logistics of the dragons.

Did they fly the whole way across the ocean? What did they eat? Did they have like ships full of goats?

Well. Imagine if it was called the narrow sea because it was really narrow.

You fuckwit.

Meereen isn't on the narrow sea.

When did this happen? He was last seen in the (most recent) episode where Brianne was making eyes with Jaime very much alive still.
Or are you implying that he would be killed if he attempted to claim the throne? Surely he could get a Valarian steel blade and instantly become a master warrior... you know, the way a Type-R sticker gives you 10 extra horse power.

A second or two after he says "I should be king".

when was it established that Pod was the son of robert? or are you talking about gendry?

varys had to go back to meereen to let them know that the alliance was in place.

the one thing that i don't like about GOT is the timing. from episode 1, we know that it takes 1 month to get from KL to winterfell. yet varys got to dorne and back, arya got from braavos to the twins, and jaime from KL to riverrun to the twins and back to KL, all in less time than it took sam to get to old towne. not to mention that you'd think that somewhere along the line, jaime would have heard about winterfell and not gone back to KL.

why didnt more of KL blow up? seems like Lancel was at least a few blocks away from the sept.

but what a great final 2 eps. now the long wait begins again. seems like just yesterday, this season started.

Veras being back on the ship heading to Westeros was kind of dumb. What an F'd up timeline that was.

Other than that, holy shit. I'll have to go back and watch again and turn the volume way up to hear what Ned's sister says to him. Pretty much what we think, I'm sure. Arya popping up was pretty solid too. She, as in her character she was hiding in, was in the episode earlier when Jaime was talking to Bronn trying to hook him up with those two girls. Her and Jaime made eye contact if I'm not mistaken. But again, I'll have to go back and re-watch that too.

If my math is right, we now have 1/2 of the Iron Islands, all of Dany's armies, Dorne, and what's left of the Tyrell's all going against Cersei. Am I about right there?

Will Arya, or Jaime kill Cersei? Will Arya torment her with the faces of her dead kids and dad?

You dont recall correctly. You are thinking of Gendry. Poderick is not a baratheon.

That scene at the end will likely be where next season picks up. People complain how Varys got back so fast. But if you notice there isnt just danys ships there. There is also Dorne and Tyrell. Clearly there was a big time gap there cause they are almost to the shores of Kings Landing in that final scene.

Wen King Robert came to Winterfell, he had the court with him, moves a lot slower than a person, or small party, riding a horse(s) and willing to rough camp instead of find an inn every night or set up elaborate tents for a queen and court every night and tear them down every morning.

Wasn't that dude who went to Bravos that Arya killed, Ser Meryn Trant, just sent the previous episode to Bravos? Not sure. Either way, one episode is a stretch.

Just have to assume that the time gaps between Mereen scenes was pretty big. Varys left 3-4 episodes ago, might have been the same episode when the Queen of Thorns left Kings landing? Sunspear to Mereen is a straight shot by boat, it's reasonable.
