There is a $400 AU bottle of whiskey that is brewed in Tasmania that was recently voted the best in teh world. I've always wanted to try the Japanese whiskey's. I like the Scottish ones.

You'll have to wait a little bit for the next release. Ask TB when they expect it in and if they can set some aside for you. I have a local place that knows to set certain things aside for me (came in handy when Velvet Merkin hit here two weeks or so ago).

Well I bought 2 barley wine beers to try for the first time. I went with Release The Hounds, and Avery's Hog Heaven. Thoughts? Even though by the time I check this I'll have had one of them

Hog Heaven is nice. Good touch of hop bite behind the malt sweetness. Avery has one of my favorite imperial IPAs: The Maharajah. Avery also does a lot of "special" beers: their annual barrel series beers are quite expensive but very tasty. Right now you should be seeing Rumpkin, their pumpkin ale aged in rum barrels, hitting places, but expect to pay $15 or so for a 12 oz. Granted, the ABV is typically 15% or more as well.

Never had Release the Hounds.

Yeah Hog Heaven was good. I liked it better then Release the Hounds. That was a little too sweet for me but still good. Liquor store clerk told me to try Great Divides barley wine next if I liked Averys. I've had The Maharajah before, it is pretty good. Rumpkin sounds good I'll check that out next.
