Yeah Hog Heaven was good. I liked it better then Release the Hounds. That was a little too sweet for me but still good. Liquor store clerk told me to try Great Divides barley wine next if I liked Averys. I've had The Maharajah before, it is pretty good. Rumpkin sounds good I'll check that out next.

Great Divide's Old Ruffian is pretty good. A few other solid one's that tend to be widely available (though sometimes not until cooler weather):

Stone Old Guardian (more hoppy and bitter)
Weyerbacher Blithering Idiot (sweeter)
Boulder Killer Penguin (more like a nice old ale in character)

There's a lot of other good one's out there, but may vary based on availability in your area. Deschutes Mirror Mirror is fantastic, Sucaba from Firestone Walker is a nice barrel-aged version, and around here DuClaw Devil's Milk is a staple for me in wintertime.

Yeah I'll check those out for sure. Killer Penguin shouldn't be too hard to find since I live in CO, that will be my next one to try if it's out. Saw on Great Divides site Old Ruffian doesn't come out until Feb. so not sure what barley wine he was pointing out, because it didn't even look like the label unless they changed it, and that beers from last year. Shows that's their only barley wine beer

Any of the Bourbon County series, though it can be difficult to find. Their Bourbon County Barley Wine is my absolute favorite Barley Wine and may be my favorite beer overall (though that can change based on mood/weather).

FTR: I'm cracking into the second to last of my 2013 BCBWs tonight. I'm keeping myself from opening the last as well.

Nice. It's my birthday tomorrow, so I'm probably going to do a Barley Wine day.

2010 Stone Old Guardian
2013 and 2014 BCBW
2014 Firestone Walker Sucuba

That or I may pull one of my Black Tuesdays. We'll see.
