But I can't pretend like it's reasonable to expect a company to change their business model based on anonymous posts in the Comments Section of their website. And there are only so many polite ways to thank anonymous posters for feedback about how we are stupid, incompetent, etc...

Well, don't think I'm not sympathetic to your situation. Unless you're the King, then everything (and everyone) else is just various degrees of peasants. Been there... done that. I worked for the 3rd largest sensitive document processing company in the US... until 911 hit and all the rules changed, While we were on downtime doing make-do work while we re-tooled to meet the new laws, several of us (me mostly but with plenty of backing) BEGGED the company to switch from the old methods of microfilm and microfish to going completely computer based and storing on disk or device instead. The company's complaint? The machines needed to make the switch were very costly. We watched as our competitors switched... as we went from 3 shifts...to two... to one... to out of business. They tried a very late last ditch effort to make the switch, but... by that time, it was game over.
It sucks that you guys haven't been able to convince the king (WG elite) that what they have here was a lot bigger and better and much longer lasting than they thought it would be. Seriously... done right there's no reason GLB 1 couldn't (not only) survive... but grow, thrive, and really turn into a major player in the on-line sports gaming industry. I know you'll come back with praises for the success you did have and the things you have in the pipeline... but WG MISSED on a goldmine, IMO. There's a REASON games like Strat-o-matic and Pursue The Pennant (later becoming Dynasty Baseball) have been up and going for MANY years and will continue to do so. Why Fantasy Sports games have been around since I was a kid and are only growing. Sure, GLB is a MMORPG... but it's a FOOTBALL mmorpg that could've been as huge as anything I just mentioned. What we are sad about is the opportunity missed.

Yes indeed. You can find issues of "Baseball Digest" and "Sport" magazine from the 60s and 70s that have ads in their for those games--they (Strat-o-matic and Pursue the Pennant) managed to hang on for a very, very long time in part because SPORTS fans are (often) fanatical in their pursuits of their pastime. There's no bigger sport in the United States than football--both the NFL and college football are KINGS of their domains.

The problem is not with the game... it is with the ownership/management and their refusal to adopt realistic pay to play packages that make sense for the market and the game as it is.

We need more dots. Make them cheaper. Make it so 1 agent can afford to purchase and maintain 20 dots at a reasonable price.

More dots per agent = less CPU teams.

More dots per agent = more interested agent with dots playing on odd and even number days

More interested agent = more money

More money = growth

I could fix your problems over night with sensible and affordable packages.

And if you're worried about all those people with 100k flex etc... allow them to use flex to purchase packages to maintain their dots at pro-rated/discounted buy outs until flex is eliminated or simply used as an exchange medium while purchasing packages.

I bet as much or more mileage could be had by the owners & admins simply paying attention to the userbase and stopping all of the doom-and-gloom-this-game-is-dead posting. I've never found the cost to be a deterrent here.

I have no idea why this thread keeps going, and that all the suggestions keep coming up..its clear that the "powers to be" have NO interest in any of the suggestions, as good as they might seem.

I agree they aren't helping themselves but disagree that would have any impact, if thats really all that changed.

Being more engaged & positive would be the side effect of them actually being engaged in the game itself...improving it, trying new ideas out, etc. They'd have to really, really love professional football...and not be satisfied with football-like results. But they aren't paying attention to the user base because they don't see anything worth doing here, beyond reducing the structure which is only a bandaid to the problems of non-improvement. Meanwhile, they aren't really figuring out a way to generate more revenue & in fact should expect revenue to decrease with less teams/players with the current structure.

Seems they have the premise of a game but don't know how to make it a "polished" product. Like they have 80% of it, but that last 20% is where they lose interest and move on. Then that gives them built-in excuses of "well, we have so many games now we can't just focus on this one" as if thats anybody's miscalculation but their own.

I'll make an attempt to compare the business model of WG to the one of my profession. Warning, it sounds absurd.

Let's say the small machine shop I work for is struggling and is losing it's customer base. So we create a second Machine Shop and tell all of our customers they can start sending purchase orders to our other machine shop, which is in a new building with new machines, but is still being operated by the same employees who were overwhelmed into mistakes at the first shop. Customers still aren't happy, are still leaving, and now we have two empty machine shops, not to mention all the costs of the new building and machines that we spent hoping we could recoup.

I prefer CPU teams now...

IMO, owners should have three options for dots to build.
A one season dot
A 3 season dot.
A 5 season dot.

Owners of teams should have 2 options.
One option is purchasing a team where all builds are the same between you and your competitior. But you can adjust the playbook.
Other option is you build and amass dots but let the CPU determine play calling etc..

Then again I'm in the minority.

Nothing else. Keep it stupid simple.

I guess this analogy might work, if you add that the new machine shop is still growing and more people are spending money there than at the old shop. And even then, I'm not sure what you tell the angry person who calls in to say "I've been leaving anonymous notes on the bulletin board in the old machine shop. Why haven't you implemented my suggestions yet??"

Obviously (I mean, I would hope it goes without saying), we appreciate everyone's passion for GLB Classic. But, you know, continuing to develop every game we make forever and ever isn't realistic - at a certain point, we have to move on to something new. And come on, it's not like we hate the game - it was our entire livelihood for years. I don't know how many times I've said it before, but the decision to stop actively developing GLB Classic was not made lightly. We're still supporting the game and still making adjustments as needed (like the league structure change). But it can't be our primary focus forever. And (yes, I'll say it again) as long as you guys are here to play it, GLB Classic will be here.
I'm sorry if this is disappointing for some of you, but... hopefully you'll dig some of our new stuff too.

I can't believe anyone is spending money on GLB2. Unless of course they never played GLB Classic.

I think I will log into GLB2 for the first time and make a thread about how great GLB is.

What the over /under on minutes before it is locked or deleted?
I say 5 minutes
