I would also like to see how GLB 2's "popularity" compares to this game's popularity in it's hey day.

Interesing, I figured Brawlers would be the most popular...

Not sure how close it is now... Last I heard, GLB2 was still #1 in terms of number of people playing and what they spend $ on.

Let's do some math! Math is fun!

I used GLB1's player search to figure out the total of all currently active dots, then subtracted out all active free-agent dots... figured it's not fair to count a dot that's not on a roster, even if the agent is active.

Then I used GLB2's player search to figure out the total of all total bots (no way to search for active bots), then subtracted out all free-agent bots.

Here's the totals I got:

GLB1: 27,962 active dots
GLB2: 13,336 active bots

So... how exactly is GLB2 more popular than GLB1 right now? Sorry, euchrid, but the numbers don't add up, unless I'm missing something REALLY big.

By the way, what is everyone talking about right now, especially over on the deuce? How much GLB1 is in decline and how much more popular and active GLB2 is.

I play both games... and while there's no denying that GLB1 is a shadow of its former self, GLB2 is a shadow of GLB1. On GLB2, the league forums are dead, the team forums are dead, and there's only marginally more action in the main GLB2 forums... which can easily be explained by the fact that there's still more to figure out about GLB2 than GLB1, which lends itself to more forum activity.

Sorry... not buying that GLB2 is WG's most popular game right now. I'm just not buying it.

Novus,
I don't play glb2 so I can't really comment on it but possibly reading between the lines of euchrid's 2nd post about the number of people playing and spending money on glb2 could be because the active dots on glb1 are from agents that are not buying flex but burning banked flex from previous players and not purchasing flex anymore.

I have 15 players the 2 free ones and the rest are from my flex return from retiring previous players. I havn't bought any flex for a little over three years now and I will be able to make some additional players without buying any flex for the next couple years if i choose to do so and there are other agents that prlly have more flex banked than I do.

Of course you need to take into account the agents playing glb2 using their banked flex from previous retired players also but if glb2 is bringing in more new players who have to buy flex then yes maybe glb2 is raking in more cash at this time.

From your numbers showing that glb1 more than doubles glb2 in active dots kind of says that glb1 is still more poplar but how many of those glb1 dots are created from banked flex?

Classic would go ape shit again if we just added an option for insta-dots and the duece's stupid atari looking three dimensional game presentation. But just the option, because for coordinating nothing beats classic's two dimensional dot view.

I still don't buy it. If GLB2 was truly that much more popular than GLB1, the usage numbers at GLB2 would be a lot higher.

I also firmly believe that the reason people have stopped buying Flex on GLB1 is because the admin staff pretty much stopped all active work on GLB1 quite some time ago, even though there's still plenty of work to be done on GLB1. Since the admins have given up on GLB1, the players are too... and yet so many people are still PLAYING GLB1 because the game -- even unfinished and buggy -- is STILL damn fun to play.

People may not be spending MONEY on GLB1 anymore, but they're still spending TIME on GLB1. That tells me GLB1 still has potential to be a money-maker again if the admins would put more time and effort back into it. Unfortunately, the WG administrative staff seems to disagree.

I agree with you on the reason why people stopped buying flex as it does seem that the adims have given up on glb1. They say that they didn't but they havn't showed us anything that says otherwise. Bort basically posts two time a season or so once to say that off season has started then again when the new season starts and again I believe when the tourneys are up.

I would love them to change things around a bit. I like the idea of instant level 79's but with some variables like I read on here say you can build an instant level 40 with no penalty to it but as you if you build a higher level instant build a penalty of some sorts would hit the player.

I still enjoy glb1 even though not as much as when it was in its hey day but it does get boring the same thing with no changes in the game.

In my other post I am not saying that glb2 is more popular I am saying it could be drawing in more cash if it has drawn in new customer which in turn they buy flex.
