I remember thinking someone should create the worlds greatest GLB strategy guide someday.

Agents would lie like a dog about how much money they were hoarding. I always got a kick out of the dicks that didn't know I could keep track of how much equipment money they had been given. When I would call them on it they would tell me I was full of shit. I would then screenshot the EF page and show them where their dot had received equipment money already. Lying pricks.
Owners would offer to pay for equipment when recruiting your dot. Once you signed they would then inform you that you need to sign a new 3 season contract or you wouldn't receive a penny from the equipment fund.
lol @ the people that think this shit should be brought back.
lol, I actually kinda thought dealing with that crap was fun.

Ugh those early season prima donna's were the worst. You needed the money for everyone's equipment upgrades, you needed to provide them with a starting position. Equal snaps didn't matter. If they weren't the starter on the home page it was a no go. Many people didn't realize WR3 was the best WR position so they bitched if they weren't one or two on the chart.
To be fair, there wasn't an xp cap, so who would want equal snaps?

"meh, I probably won't play this very much, why not make some guys"
and
"I'm gonna make well-balanced guys so every team will sign them"

I created a HB spread my SPs all over the place then signed to some team. Then looked at USA pro and thought wow these guys are already lvl 13
"......These dicks in the forums think they know everything but hey, check out these awesome graphics. I'm off to build a block-breaking, play disrupting, beast of a blitzing DT! And a QB that can break the pocket and keep the D guessing, 'Air or Ground?'!!"
Such naïveté.....

DTs could be beasts back then, but then Bort felt like DTs shouldn't be able to make plays

When I signed up there was a second season 1 that was only 5 games iirc , made a SS and CB and then bought some flex about 2 hours later.
EDIT: Or it was some type of continuation of S1 , wish I could remember but pretty sure it was only a 5 game season. And then I made a Pass Rushing DT to get some sacks.

ME and my bro joined together and bought a gutted team in the USA tier. Remember signing a bunch of new builds to fill the roster and spending most of the next two seasons getting smashed by teams with a 15 level advantage.

Ya they made new leagues all through season 1 and plugged in teams as people signed up. Then after that mini season they rearranged people all over to whatever hemisphere they wanted. Most people went to USA as that was going to be the most challenging bracket having been the first league with all the highest leveled guys.
