Sometimes the Center breaks off his block to help out too. Haven't seen the RG help any at all with the blitz. Always works to the NT.

Thats not how it was in WL last season btw. Just wondering what led to the change and if they feel better about leaving a CB unblocked when last seasons logic was easily the best they ever had

Sounds like season 28 again. The game was not even remotely fun that season.

screen code/logic was only used on one play while the specifics were hammered out. it's been applied to most of the other screens now. also, working on logic so the blitz doesn't eat it up so much - since thats like .. the point of screens and stuff

Try throwing the screen pass further inside the box and have QB drop straight back quick, that way Oline releasing doesn't have to run 10 yards and will be easier for them to pick up the man covering HB

^this would be a pass blitz screen.

THe current screen I would say is more for a 3/4 man dline rush only , not a blitz beater

you do want to invite the defenders crashing down though. they are trying to use the hot-read type logic on the blitz + screen; it will work, just about turning the knobs and stuff.

you guys do no service to anyone taking a single replay of a bad/buggy situation and extrapolating that as "how its going to be"

snakes - u were there the last 2 seasons, u know how this works.

The only way to do it using current screen is adding some un-natural delay to the blitzer so they can't reach the QB before the play develops.

Just keep the current screens as a decent play call vs cover 3 defenses and 3 man rush and add a few new ones with a block first, QB drops straight back and then release the HB for the screen inside

i believe at the moment the goal is to use the pre-snap read to adjust the pulling linemens chip/hold time a bit longer on the blitz - otherwise they'll continue farther out to lead block. its new logic and allows some fine tuning, both on the test and once in the preseason with wide-spread looks.

fundamentally it makes sense. doesn't always play out in practice of course.

If they hold block for longer tho, they'll never be able to make it out to block anyone for the screen so its pretty much a swing pass 1 v 1 with whoever is covering the HB

Hot read is a built in blitz handicap for bad OC's.. we dont need it IMO
