We move on - to round two. We leave four teams behind as we enter conference championship play. Three of the four games left no doubt who the better team was while my team came back from an early deficit and closed late for the W. We saw each of the one and two seeds advance but can we see a number two seed move into the title game - time will tell.

CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Not Fast, Just Furious @ Running Gag

These teams have split their four game regular season series over the past two seasons with one thing ringing true...these are not defensive games. In three of the four previous game the winner has scored 51 points while in the other game the winner netted 45. NF has barely outscored Running by 190-185 and that output is 47.5 ppg for JF and 46.25 for Gag - it doesn't get much closer than that. This game represents the old veteran ball coach versus the up and comer trying to get some gold of their own...the classic good (NF) versus evil (Running) story line.

NFJF - On paper their the hottest team in the league reeling off six straight wins including a 51-41 W over Running in week 16.

How Not Fast Will Win
1. Getting out to a "fast" start.
2. Making the Gag O earn their points.
3. Hitting a home run or two on O.

Gag - Is now playing in their third straight conference championship and they've won their previous two by outscoring their opponents 132-10.

How Running Will Win
1. Make it a track meet and see if NF can keep up.
2. Win the turnover battle.
3. Getting TD's over FG's.
3A. Hell freezing over.

Make no mistake, having beaten Gag twice has given us a boost in confidence a team may not normally have facing one of the all-time great Casual Pro franchises. The ole saying of "the broken clock is right twice a day" may be the case here but we'll take what we can get. Both teams are going to put up yards and points but it will come down to a defensive effort or a lack of one late. Both teams are confident but I'm banking on my team to make a play or two that will let us get the win...51-48.

Magua's Revenge @ Charlestown Chiefs

These two have a deep history and for the Chiefs the history has been good. They came up together and have met a total of 12 times in the regular season and three times in the playoff (all championship games). Charlestown holds the regular season at 9-3 and the playoffs at 2-1. One team will be looking for some revenge and it will be Magua. While the history of coming up is nice we can look at how the teams have placed since making it to Casual Pro. The teams have met up four times (Chiefs 3-1) and last season games were tight with the Chiefs winning both by one score (30-24 and 29-26). This season the Revenge hung a 31 point win (34-3) during week three and the Chiefs rebounded and turned the tables for their own 30 point win (54-24) during week 12.

Magua - Got the monkey (technically spider) off their back from last season and look to get into another championship game.

How Magua Will Win
1. Need to show up offensivly in the 1st half.
2. Three Chiefs popped off over 100 yard in their last meeting - slow the run.
3. Win the TO battle.

Charlestown - Have played in six straight conference finals and will there be a repeat of S70 where the Revenge took them out 27-20.

How Charlestown Will Win
1. Make Bumppo pay for even thinking of throwing.
2. Slow the two headed RB attack down.
3. Don't let the Revenge O dominate the TOP.

When one team dominates the other (which isn't often) it's the ground game that's churned up the yardage (game 1 this year - Revenge with 359 rushing yards; game 2 this year - Chiefs with 446.5 rushing yards). The Chiefs tried passing in their loss to the Revenge this season and it did not work. The ground game for each is powerful and whoever can break those tackles and get the backs going will control the game. I don't see either team going off like in the two previous games and the QB's will come into play and I have Chiefs making more plays on D and turning the Revenge over late to secure a low scoring game...23-20.
