Dawn comes to Lancaster and brings blood. The cold corpse of Darren Sanders has been found near the town well, bound hand and foot with a note that says "JUDAS" pinned to his heart with a large knife. An examination of his home reveals the awful truth -- Darren had been collaborating with the English as a police informant! Was it him who betrayed Vladykins last night? Was this murder intended as retribution? Or was it just random, with the evidence found after the fact?

The entire community is on edge, hardly speaking and avoiding eye contact. Ahoda, gone. Vladykins, gone. Darren, gone. Will there be another excommunication today? Rumors swirl about Fat Colin, kiolb, and Lemoncow, all of whom seem to be neglecting their duties and getting a bit English. With neighbors already avoiding neighbors, it is difficult to tell what is or isn't a righteous shun -- a situation made all the worse by the prompt arrival of the Lancaster County Police.

As the police begin taping off the crime scene, more news arrives. Given the suspicious circumstances of Darren's murder, it has been decided that Vladykins will be detained pending further investigation. Everyone knows what this means. If he does ever return, hopefully there will be a community left for him to return to. In the meantime, hopefully whomever is tapped for the Elders Council can help restore peace!
