Week 9 fail goes to District 9's start. And by start I mean the entire game until the final minute, going into which they trailed 63-0. The defense allowed nearly 600 yards to Sunday's offense, and the D9 offense matched their 3 fumbles lost with 3 interceptions thrown. Time of possession was just as ugly with a 1:3 disadvantage in the slaughter. Congrats, Prawns!

Week 10 fail goes to Vicious Circle's final two minutes. Solid D throughout (just 250 yards and 17 points allowed through 57 minutes) and a clutch 4th-quarter performance by the offense resulted in a tied game with 2:57 left. A couple of short runs had the Vicious D in good position at 3rd & 5.5. But then Algoma's offense took over. A long completion gave Legends a first down in enemy territory, and then it was ground n' pound time. Runs of 12, 13, and 8 highlighted a 9-play 73 yard TD drive to seize control of the game with 28 seconds left.
On the ensuing kickoff, a misguided kick return (18 yards from 9 yards deep) set them up with 91 yards to go in 25 seconds. Then, apparently inspired by Algoma's moderately successful 78% running attack, Circle's offense ran the ball 4 straight times, burning all 3 timeouts to gain just 14 yards. It was a fail ending in all three phases of the game. Congrats, ADD!

Week 11 fail goes to Atlantis for excessive use of Big I HB Slam. Coming into the day a game behind WAR MACHINE, they held a 10-6 lead late in the second quarter. But they kept pounding this play up the middle over, and over, and over. Despite not once gaining as much as 4 yards on the play, Atlantis just kept going to that well, 13 times in all for an average of 1.46. And that includes 9 attempts on first down. Meanwhile that lead disintegrated into a 10-38 loss. Congrats, Aquatic Apes!

Week 12 fail goes to stu. I don't know if Algoma loaded the wrong AI again or what but I'm gonna blame stu here. Only 3 points is ugly enough; Only 3 points when your opponent only scores 7 is hideous. Congrats, stu!

Week 13 fail goes to Cliffden's late passing. After the defense forced a punt in a tie game, the offense had 3 timeouts but bad field position. After a run which chewed up some clock, Cliffden decided to risk it and went to the air. Well to illustrate how that turned out I'll just paste the PBP:

--Clifden Leprechauns 1:08
1:08 1st & 10 OWN 15.5 Vinnie "Juggernaut" Jones rush up the middle (2.5 yd gain) [Big Hit diving tackle: Ted Cahill]
0:47 2nd & 7.5 OWN 18 Kevin Lock II pass to Morgan Swift up the left side (dropped - incomplete)
0:42 3rd & 7.5 OWN 18 Kevin Lock II pass to Seto Kaiba up the left side intercepted by "The General" Dynamic (0 yd return) [diving tackle: Seto Kaiba]
--Atlantis Aquatic Apes 0:38
0:38 1st & 10 OPP 30 47 yd field goal attempted by Aussierules Wilson, made [FG]
--Clifden Leprechauns 0:34
0:34 Kickoff by Aussierules Wilson, 73 yd, fielded by RICK UPCHURCH KR-PR, 0 yds (touchback)
0:34 1st & 10 OWN 20 Kevin Lock II bad pass to Tight McEnder, hurried by Little Orphan Annie, up the right side (incomplete - bad throw)
0:29 2nd & 10 OWN 20 Kevin Lock II pass to Rod Harris II, hurried by Its a Lance Wilson, up the left side [deflected by "The General" Dynamic] (incomplete)
0:25 3rd & 10 OWN 20 Kevin Lock II pass to Marvin OG up the left side [deflected by "The General" Dynamic] (incomplete)

0:20 4th & 10 OWN 20 Kevin Lock II pass to Anne "Good Hands" Hathaway up the left side [deflected by Dreamworks Animation] (incomplete) (turnover on downs)
--Atlantis Aquatic Apes 0:15
0:15 1st & 10 OPP 20 37 yd field goal attempted by Aussierules Wilson, made [FG]
--Clifden Leprechauns 0:11
0:11 Kickoff by Aussierules Wilson, 66 yd, fielded by RICK UPCHURCH KR-PR [missed diving tackle: Sioux Wilson (Spin)] (35.5 yd return) [diving tackle: Pass Incomplete]
0:06 1st & 10 OWN 39 Kevin Lock II pass to Anne "Good Hands" Hathaway up the left side [deflected by Ricardo Koehler] (incomplete)
0:01 2nd & 10 OWN 39 Kevin Lock II pass to Anne "Good Hands" Hathaway up the left side [deflected by Ricardo Koehler] (incomplete)

In all: 8 passes, 0 completions, 1 drop, 1 INT... directly responsible for two field goals for the opponent. They didn't even end up having an opportunity to call a timeout. Congrats, Leprechauns!

Week 14 fail goes to WAR's passing game. They completed less than 38% of their passes for a per-attempt average of 3.1 yards. Despite WAR's defense holding Puffington to 17 points for the first 55 minutes, the offense could barely stay on the field, finishing with just 23:37 time of possession. They also suffered 6 sacks, losing 28 yards compared to just 99 gained. Now in fairness to them I did use a player appreciation day on a defender just because we had money to spare, but on the stat sheet at least it didn't appear to make a difference. WAR's offense went three-and out with at least two incompletions or sacks 6 times and had a few other three-and-outs with one pass attempt in the 10-23 loss. Congrats, MACHINE!

Week 15 fail goes to the Green Lake defense. I don't normally pick on teams beat up in a mismatch, but despite their record Green Lake has kept other mismatches reasonably competitive, not giving up 70 in any of their games which is a lot more than the teams below them can say and about on par with a few teams above them. This one got away from them though as Burnside ripped them on the ground and through the air for big play after big play in an 86-6 thumping. None of the points were scored by defense either, and only one TD on a kick return. The Bandits averaged 9 yards per rush and 11.2 yards per pass with just 2 sacks and no turnovers. Congrats, Cheesheads!

Week 16 fail goes to Queen City's last minute of the first half. After taking a 3 point lead with 1:53 remaining in the second quarter, they gave up a 28 yard pass to midfield with 42 seconds left, which was enough for Fólkvangr to use a timeout. Two passes of 39.5 and 8 yards later and they surrendered the lead. Following a touchback, on the first play Queen City tried to go deep but instead threw a pick-six, surrendering 14 points in just 10 seconds (or 1:36 if you want to count the entirety of the two possessions). It was a backbreaker in 17-28 loss that could have resulted in losing a three-way tie for the last playoff spot. Alas, the Bandits took care of Vicious and QC backs into the 8 seed. Congrats, Bobcats!
