I talked to someone I know fairly high up in the Athletic Department. He said there is no paper trail or any evidence that Johnny was paid for anything, and nothing is going to come of it. He feels it is a shot over the bow so to speak for A&M to rein in his shenanigans since he is the face of college football and he is not pushing out the image the NCAA wants.

What shenanigans? He is Mr. Perfect? He's just a 20 year old college kid, what shenanigans could he be doing? Someone saying there is "no paper trail" this early in an investigation has gotten more than 1 person fired in the past. Saying stupid shit like that when they likely have no clue what investigators will find is just crazy. If it happened (which maybe it didn't), but if it did...there will be a paper trail and it will be uncovered through emails or phone searches. People need to learn to STFU until the findings of the investigation are complete (cue Aron Rodgers/Ryan Braun).

I will follow up mwoods comments as I agree with him, but is this really the point? My question is why hasn't Sumlin grabbed Johnny by the neck by now and ask him, "What the fuck are you doing?" I wouldn't be worried about paper trails, I would be worried about why there is any speculation to as a paper trail. Apparently Sumlin isn't doing enough to keep his kids busy... but then again, when the school suspends 'Mr. Football' for the entire year and Sumlin lobbies the university to get him reinstated why would Mr. Football be worried about consequences. His coach will always cover his hiney.

Oh, and look what law firm A&M has hired to help them in the investigation... the same one involved in the Newton/Auburn scandal. What a coincidence...

I guess $EC schools will do whatever it takes to win at all costs...be damned to who they hurt or any ethics involved. Oh and look who Les Miles just reinstated yesterday... a known child molester. Well done $EC, well done...

The school didn't suspend him for a year. If the school suspended students for a year for having fake IDs, DWIs, criminal trespass, possession of marijuana, etc. there would be a ton of folks suspended out of a student population of 50,000.

Don't even try to put what the piece of shit Miles is doing at LSU with our stuff, that is several degrees of separation from this and the fact Miles let that kid back on campus should be criminal.

Feel free to correct me, but wasn't he suspended a full year regarding the incident involving the fight with the 40 year old? Didn't Mr. Football decide to transfer because he didn't want to sit out a full year? Didn't Sumlin beg him to stay AND get him reinstated to play last season?

I'm doing this from memory, I'm old, and my memory has failed me before.

He wasn't actually suspended, he was threatened.

Sources within Texas A&M confirmed that the school briefly suspended Manziel for the entire 2012 season following his arrest last summer stemming from a fight outside a bar.

Manziel was arrested in College Station last June for fighting, failing to identify himself and possessing two fake IDs. As a result, the school placed him on suspension for the full 2012 season before the punishment was overturned on appeal during fall camp.

No paper trail that he took $, but apparently plenty of "video" floating around that he signed the stuff...question is can the NCAA connect the dots.

JFF may just have pushed this too far to be able to back out of it.....will TAMU be willing to risk future penalties if something comes out later, knowing all the smoke is hovering around JFF already.....

They can't and Ray is right.
1.) NCAA are a bunch of pussies with no true power.
2.) A&M has no interest turning themselves in. It's the $EC way.
3.) Manziel family is rich and is already assembling their legal team.
4.) 'Uncle Nate,' the middle man, doesn't have to answer to the NCAA.

It's a lost cause.

Also, in regards to the alleged video, if it does exist it was made illegally since Manziel did not know and Connecticut is a two-party consent state, so the broker would be in some shit himself.

1) I thought this was in Florida (2 party also though)?
2) Did the video have audio?
3) Was the video "hidden"?

I don't know the answers to the questions off the top of my head, but they are important. Either way, lots of defense going on for a guy who is "innocent".
As to the video, even if made illegally, it is still admissible. It would then fall on if the judge/DA wants to go after whoever made it or not. Regardless, it is 100% admissible in any court (and any other non-judicial matter as well).

Edited for lots of typos.

No matter how you slice it, it appears Manziel's days are numbered. Either by getting booting or just flaming out, it seems he is lacking the mental fortitude to stand up to the rigors of fame over the long haul.
Too bad as the kid is a lot of fun to watch
