Too many holes in the zone scheme. If you're going to say that my opinion is based on poor CBs, the team I play for that has tried it has 2 20+ CBs and a lvl 19 all with decent builds.

The team that I DC for uses a lot of zone and we have been decent at it. Just don't blitz much.

I have had success with both man and zone. On one of my teams, I always keep a bit of zone in there because if the QB has low vision, it leads to plenty of INTs. I prefer to play straight up man however.

eh I prefer pure man. Its worked well for my team considering we lead the all of our league in interceptions with like 41

Not original. Pittsburgh 1975

QFT

And I'm sure Pittsburgh got it from somewhere else too. Very little in football is original.

Gods went 50% zone this game

Not too shabby. Held opposing QB to 40% (16 points below average).

For teams with a solid run stopping D-line, zone can be very effective at making other teams kick field goals in the red zone instead of extra points.

It will give up a lot of yards much of the time, but it seems to be good at preventing TDs. If you can stop the goal line runs that result, I think it can be helpful against a team that outlevels you, particularly at the WR/CB matchups.

Can certainly agree with this as far as zone, we tend to favour it slightly and have only given up regular TDs in games where we've used more man this season. Having a big D-line really helps with it.

hrm. Well that's because the endzone becomes a zone itself. You don't have to worry about the deep ball when you're pinned at your own 5 yard line.

I'll have to keep this in mind when making the defense AI

As a TB fan I would love to run the zone, though I'm not sure GLB is set to run it right.

For the zone you do not need amazing speed like some suggest. You won't be running a footrace with WRs down the field. You need decent speed, HIGH agility (to use all your speed real quickly and in short bursts) and high vision to run the zone well.

In the current world the "hot" and most effective defenses are the 3-4 and the Cover 2. You do not see teams run man-to-man in a non 3-4 defense anymore. It's just to easy to read by any QB with an above average football IQ.

Yet in the GLB, that's the defense that is in place.

Have you ever heard of Greg Williams, Jim Johnson, or Steve Spagnolu? All run man defense most of the time.
