On the one hand age based leagues are good for eliminating potential exploits and showing off who the best teams are season in, season out, but on the other hand, it sucks hard to be one those teams that isn't one of the best. It is no fun seeing your schedule in preseason and knowing that you have the best team you can assemble, and see 2 or 3 teams that you have no hope of beating. At this age, the term "fix ur builds" can only be accomplished by dropping back to rookie and restarting.

Once a team, or two or three teams, separate themselves from everyone else, you really start seeing the level of attrition go up. Eventually all you are left with are the elite teams, and the people that don't care what the team does and are just waiting for Pro, the farm teams. That really isn't fun for anybody, but there is no way to really fix it without overhauling league structure again.

I think if the age had more teams, then there would be room for more than one "competitive" league, so would be more opportunity for teams to demote to re-group, and just having more players available, would keep the league more competitive....

If I had more time to do regular AI and game scouting/planning, RRR would likely have moved to regular, but I'm a couple seasons from being able to do that....

That's true, and this age tier is an extreme case, but it isn't just this age, and it isn't just casual. Ezra co-owns a casual team a tier or two down, and I think they won 3 of the last 4 golds. A team I co-own and have a bunch of dots on in regular has won 3 of the last 4 golds. Eugene Hippies I think have won three straight, and they are in Prep, University, or something. Those are just the ones I know about without digging, but I'm sure there are others. This type of dynasty thing is more common now because once you get to elite, there is nowhere else to go, and inevitably you keep playing, and beating, the same teams over and over again, season in, season out. Further, with the way agents want to play on good teams, the best teams get the best dots generally, and that spirals the cycle.

The best thing about it is that you can get out of that rut after 5 or 6 seasons now instead of 8 or 9.

Agree Kirg. MJM, Arizona, Eugene, and Alaskan Raven's Touchy Fillies http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=8913 pretty much make things pretty rough. It's team design+builders+tactics, in my opinion. One you get those three lined up, it's very hard to catch up. How can I get a ROT type of power WR for a run game built to my specs after 5 seasons? You can't. Same with some other positions. It has to be a coherent approach with VAs, AEQ, builds, and a plan all lined up.

Every time I have to swap out a dot on AZ, I shudder and wonder if that change will upset the system.

Er no...pretty much Kirg, IM4UT, and I am gonna beat up on everyone for a chance to get mad about the sim giving one or the others a title shot in a freak play.

Kirg is due. i suspect it will be him that gets frustrated.

I don't get frustrated about dots unless I lose a championship game because of 14 return TD's.

RRR is the favorite until someone beats them though.

What is that trophy all about that you you have for Red River Dream Mailers? Did you change the team name right after you beat MJM or something, IM4UT?

The RRR guys, JayKwaz, and I, got together and made a team. We kinda merged the team names and that is what came out. Then free resets happened and we got together again on Mad Dots. This league is a big happy family.

K/J/SS and myself combined on a team during the couple pre-NDP era...I folded it after the NDP instead of restarting it due to being over-committed for players...those extra 15 players were killing me...
