Something to consider here...

Let's say someone creates a dot on Day -8 instead of Day 47. There is no way for that dot to ever reach level 79 because they were built the wrong day. Is that a smart move?

I do agree that the loophole that would allow someone to get to level 79 with only 24 boosts needed to be closed, but wouldn't requiring 27 boosts be a better option?

Current system. someone create a dot on day -8, no way to reach Lv 75. Was that a bad move ?
current system. someone created a dot on day +1, no way to reach LV 73. Was that a bad move ?

Seriously, the level cap make it smarter for long term dots to go the cheapest way possible (one can argue about how VP value changes that). If they implement a 27 boost cap to 79, then anyone who pays for 30 boost get a lesser dot for his money.

My mind is blown. I can't get it.

Look at AirMcMVP's table:

Season 6, boost x3, end at level 69, 21 total boosts
Season 7, boost x3, end at level 75, 24 total boosts
Season 8, boost x3, end at level 78, 27 total boosts
Day 281, boost x1, end at level 79, 28 total boosts

So lets say it's season 7, day 0. The dot has not boosted for this season yet. So we used 21 total boosts. The limit for this amount of boosts is 70. So I see this new change forces me to boost my dot as early as possible before getting lvl 70 to get XP after it. I am sorry but I don't think all the users are happy about it (including me).

Another one. Season 7, day 40, the dot boosted for season 7. Lvl 75, 24 boosts used. But the cap is lvl 73!!! And so on. I don't get how it works...

Honestly, yes. Its not good that there is a small window that allows a dot to reach its full potential. The forever free, fully boosted dot eases that pain a bit, but not completely.

The reason I suggest a 27 boost requirement to allow the boost to 79 (actual boost count would be 28) is that it fits within the current XP mold. Also, the only way to get to level 79 would be to boost every season, including the 0 season. A player who doesn't boost in 0 season would be capped at level 78.

If they want to put caps in place to keep players from taking advantage of higher XP gains at early levels which minimize the number of boosts required, fine. I don't see changing the end game development model completely to fix it, though.

Basically, you will stop earning XP once you hit one of these caps and you won't begin earning XP until you are able to boost again. Of course, once you boost, you're already at the next cap. Essentially, XP are "turned off" after 24 boosts (assuming you boost in 0 season).

That sounds wrong (on technical ground) and contradictory to your own suggestion that players created without a 0 season can still reach lv 79.

I understand that there will be no XP gains after 24 boosts. But the dot should be lvl 75 by that time and why then should I boost 6 times instead of 4 to get lvl 79? That's the question.

How can a dot get to lv 75 with 24 boosts ? He will be limited to Lv 23 (no XP gains in his last non-plateau season) until he puts in boost # 25.

It is contradictory and, now that I think about it, also incorrect. I assumed day 0 boosts in that example if you boost after Day 40 every season you can reach level 79 with 26 boosts.

Now, how is it fair that those who don't boost in season 0 can reach the same place as those that do with 2 less boosts? Those that did the 0 season boosts likely had better early careers for their dots and also probably benefited from reaching caps more quickly.

My post was made before I saw that XP gains would be turned off (or before that registered with me). Basically, what this latest change does is make it mandatory to boost in the 0 season (and even have a 0 season for that matter) and then penalize players for the now required boost.

I guess we can now understand why they added the +20 SP on the 25th boost. It was added to lessen the blow from capping XP.

It was added from all the wrong reasons.

Honeslty, I'm usually pretty ok with most of the changes that come about in the game, but this feels like a band aid rather than a fix.

I am ok with the floating cap. It make sense. But dishing out 70 SPs to all builds, is just unnecessary. You can go one dimensional and still be rounded enough.

This. I have finally got how it works, thanks ANd now I don't understand any reason of implementing this except getting more money from customers. They just force us to boost 30 times instead of 25 (maybe less - I have counted 25 for a non boosting in season 0 dot in precious version of this change) tto make boosting more worthwhile for our valued paying customers Nice wording.

It is still cheaper than the 36-39 boosts you used to put in. And now you get a free dot who is free to boost for life.

The only thing that changed is they actually made boosting in the 0 season much more attractive. The value you used to get for boosting there was about 1.5 levels and a couple of extra VP. Now you get 3 full levels and the ability to hit the max level, a much better value. When you add in the extra SP for each boost we are talking an additional 30 SP which makes it even sweeter.
