I didn't say he didn't have a good team. He's proven that he does. I just disagree that he's proven that "leaving builds open doesn't mean anything", as he claims. It works for him because of the type of team and builds he has, but I don't believe it would be true for most teams.

I thought you meant his success was due to him building all his own players. I see what you're saying now.

A team I had a while back the entire offense was created by me, and the entire defense by the DC. It is much easier to have everyone firing on all cylinders and know that any adjustments made will 100% trickle through the entire team. You still have to game plan though.

Also, never underestimate the ability to create players that 100% complement each other, versus recruiting players with varying builds and fitting them into a system (or changing a system to fit them). Having WR's that can block on the left side, and a FB that is geared to hit the first body coming across the line (usually the ROLB), makes running left deadly. But you have to build them specifically to do those things.

Meh. It has its ups and downs.

I don't think you've proven that at all. In a team that's entirely built by one person, there are no obvious "weak links" for your opponent to exploit.

I thought they were all pretty obvious, which is why people ate my secondary alive last season.

Edit: Also my effective level always seems to be much lower, so when you look at it that way, most of my team is a 'weak link'.

There just aren't that many teams running around with open builds, and I'm just trying to show that it doesn't really hurt, and I wish everyone would open their builds. It would make the games much more interesting if you play against someone who just destroys you and you want to know what their build looks like that allowed them to do it. When my powerback breaks almost 300 tackles last season, some people might have wondered how he could do it. Also it heads off the 'who's running streaky and slow starter' debate.

+10.

Is it just me, or is this the only guy that's tried to downplay the advantage of one man teams in the last 22 seasons?

How your power back could do it is simple he is already applying SA's. No big deal that also explains your lower effective level. It is also the reason your squad will likely never make WL and has dominated at lower levels.

All that being said I wish we would just be given the extra SP instead of ALG's so we could build our players to be the best they can from Day 1 instead of choosing to front end our builds as you are doing or back end our builds as many others do.

I don't know that many people who can handle 55 players, OC, DC, and handle the forum trash talk all by themselves while going through Law School.

My players were frontloaded because they were supposed to be one and done Pee Wee Gold builds. There are some players on my team that will be able to stay with me right through to Pro League, others will be replaced when my team is no longer competitive. It's nice to not have to recruit for now.

Everyone said that last season when they saw the effective level difference. I think I can get to through to uncapped before I need to recruit. Even if I don't win, I'll still be a threat.

Yea, I think you've proven that IMO

honestly, most people who have been playing this game more than a few seasons can tell what a build looks like just by the lolbars and a few replays. The only thing that really remains a mystery are the VAs and SAs. I really don't think that showing builds would change the game that much, but I also don't think they should all be open.

Hell even if you know all your att levels, you still don't know 100% what that translates to on the dotball field. If all builds were open, then we'd really see cookie cut builds.
