Agreed. The seeding is annoying. I'm over the fact that HHWC vs Smurfs is a matchup of 2 top 10 teams of GLB in the first round of 32, while there are so many other weak matchups.

its a tournament. if you want to win you eventually have to play some good teams.

that being said, next season i'll just re-arrange the teams however i want for the bracket to make it interesting. seem fair?

looks like you did that this season, nice 1st and 2nd round

btw does the first round mean "eventually"?

actually...i posted exactly how the tournament would work before it started. i've followed those guidelines exactly. the point of those rules is so that there is absolutely no bias whatsoever. its all based on numbers.

This.

hays has done absolutely nothing wrong. Get off his jock. He's followed the guidelines he set up to a tee with the exception of making sure there were no rematches, which is good.

I think the problem lies in the setup. While teams were originally seeded by their effective level, we know that can be misleading. Indy was 3rd in effective level when this started and seeded third. Yet we get Sin City which is a top 15-20 team in GLB probably in our pool--while other teams with a much lower seed got total creampuffs and our now seeded ahead of us. It stinks, but that's the system and like hays said we have to win out to win the tourney anyhow.

It's pretty difficult to seed the teams on Day 0. Using effective levels is probably fair--though still not accurate. Albeit, the knockout stage should perhaps be seeded by a different method. You can't totally use the world/pro rankings imm due to the skewing of those due to rated scrims and SOS this early in the season. So, then it comes down to subjectiveness, which could really irk people. So you have to take the good with the bad and the bad with the good. So some "lesser" teams may get a lot farther in the tourney than you? Big deal. They still won't win it if they were lesser and you wouldn't have won it either. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

Well, even if you do an lolrankings before the tourney and seed it that way it'll get more support.

No one complained early on b/c they either expected that it'd be based on lolrankings, or just didn't think you'd listen if they bitched in public OR private.

Either way, when you saw your bracket compared to others, how did you not look and say - lol, we got this easy. Hmmm... maybe this will compromise the integrity of the tourney...
Maybe I should re-evaluate.

W/o the rankings I have a feeling that your tourney will start losing support.
A lot of ppl are already telling Landry's to F off (we will next season) as they failed to get a trophy for MJaw last season & b/c they don't use Point Differential as the first tie-breaker.

i'm open to suggestions if you're willing to speak with rationale and respect. complaining generally leads to me tuning you out.

fwiw i didn't complain when i got a bye in the coke tournament only to face saigon in round 2. its a tournament. its random. you play who you play and move on.

the reason that i do it based entirely on numbers is so that nobody can say 'well he's biased towards his own team'...yet somehow two of you have already tried to make that claim.

your logic here is baffling. so i post a set of rules. i post how the seeding works. i post how the group stage works. i post how the bracket is seeded. then i follow all of the rules.

then i see that my team has a favorable match-up in the first round. and then i think 'well for the sake of the integrity of this tournament i should re-seed my team into a more difficult match-up'...do you even think about what you're saying before you post?

I think I was clear in my first post. I'm more concerned about my part of the bracket having 3 WL alpha playoff teams who will obviously not reveal anything in this tourney and therefore are almost a waste of flex. I would have loved to play some WL zeta teams just based on the fact Im not worrying about revealing anything and would love some inter conference matchups. Not sure how I can be more clear about. If you make changes based on avoiding re-matches you should also make changes based on avoiding conference matchups if you want more people to take this seriously.

I feel like we should not play any more games until the prior seasons winners have been paid. It's fucking bullshit.

Wow.

Yeah, teach us a lesson. The Addicts won't be able to make any money off the ticket sales, nor will we gain any more goodwill from everyone and their buddies for the work our people put in to run these things.

I see it as who cares how the seeding is done, just play the games and move on. If you dont wanna play real teams(that may or may not be in your conference) go set up your own private scrimmages. Either way, at some point in time during this tournament(even if it would have been in the championship) you might have had to play a team in your conference.

Great work hays. Keep up the good work
