has there ever been an all star team similar to the pro bowl? Best players in each position play s similar team from the other conference?

I don't think so. I like the concept though.

In Pee Wee gold they have used a script to "select" Pro-Bowl players.

However, it is tuff to really choose. If your team is good and you use a three headed monster for QB, RB or multiple WR's.... how can you really choose. It seems, maybe, better to do a yards per carry type thing, with a minimum number of carries. Same logic works on other positions. If your team sucks you will likely have loads of defensive stats. I doubt the script takes those factors into consideration.

Then again, they are dots and will likely look similar anyway in their stats.

I would go by their conference ranks in the awards menu. Their would be no biased picks and the true top performers would get in.

That's not a horrible way to do it, but that is again biased to statistics. A lot of times the award winners are easily the best at their position, but sometimes, many times actually, it's just the guy that was pimped out to get those stats the most.

There really is no way to do it without basing it on stats, and it's probably unrealistic, but if I had to do it in the fairest way possible, I'd have an owner nominate everyone they truly feel is a top 2-3 guy at their position in the league, and then have a committee of at least 5 people who would dedicate time to view more than just stats, (probably including build and replays) and have them decide on the final roster.
