Not to mention that with the changes above, it may be a meaningless change.

Well people can still field a roster that GLB deems worthy and cash farm. Teams might try to sign random FAs to meet this restriction to farm cash for a farm team that is maturing.

Bort - you probably should have made some mention of the equipment change you are thinking about in the announcement or make another announcement.

Excellent change.

Can't wait to see the EQ fix.

The system we are currently working on figuring out, proposed by a tester, and similar to some other ideas in suggestions revolves around the concept of removing the team->player money transfer via equipment, since that's the main thing collusion is based on, and instead have players directly pay for their EQ with the currency they have, and teams pay for more team-related options.

Think of it this way:

- Players have currency already: time, tokens, SP, morale, energy. Make eq and training cost based on that instead, and let players get EQ more easily. Players then are more in control of their destiny, instead of relying on a team, and have all the same options. The only thing salary really should do for them is keep their morale up and maybe buy some bling.

- Teams have cash as their currency. Let them use that to upgrade their facilities, advertise, and pay their to play (not to make them vastly better via EQ).

It's a fairly major change from what we have now, but I have grown to really like the idea and I think doing things along those lines would really clean up the whole mess and make it more fun for everyone. We're trying to work out the numbers and the ideas on things to add, etc, currently.

I am really pumped to see this.

This is what I am talking about. This would be great for both owners and players to keep both interested in the financial aspect of this game

NOTE - THIS PORTION WILL NOT GO INTO EFFECT UNTIL SEASON 15.

To prevent teams from sticking around at higher levels to keep their stadium and team cash, the following will be implemented if a team does not meet the league minimum level requirements or field a roster of at least 30 human players. This will be determined by a team not receiving any media revenue the last 3 game weeks of the season. Token media revenue will be added to leagues that currently do not get media revenue so that we can track this.

-- Fan Support will decrease below the minimum 30/10/0 threshold. Ticket sales at these levels will be extremely difficult. Once fan support reaches 0/0/0, no tickets will be sold.
-- The stadium will lose one section per season until the stadium is at the default value for that level. The order in which sections are lost begins at the 300 level, goes to the 200 level, and then the 100 level (minus the normal 100 level sidelines) with the section that has the most seats at that level being the one that would be lost first.
-- No stadium construction or expansion allowed.

Once a team has met the league minimum level requirements and fielded a roster of at least 30 human players they can start gaining fan support and conducting construction or expansion on their stadium.
---------------------------------
today's announcement

so does my team need to:

1 - Have 30 human players on the team - see bolded part (obviously they must be above the existing min level to sign or have been on the team)

OR

2 - Meet the requirements to earn media money

please clarify

They are one and the same. The media requirements = the announcement requirements. We spelled it out to make it more clear for people rather than just saying "you must get media revenue for the last three weeks"

GREAT RULE!!! Wont effect "well run" franchises, and will encourage owners who cant cut it, to sell the team back.

But why cash farm if Bort is making cash mean less? That is what I am getting from the Bort posts is that he is looking to change team money from being a game altering factor to a more subdued factor in the player's performance.

Perhaps I am reading it wrong tho.

I see an exploit that might need to get closed up...

Teams "overpromoting". For example, the "we won too many games and got moved up 2 caps to level 22 when my team is only level 17 on average, please demote us to 18 cap" people. Who do get moved down sometimes. If they know that that they are going to do this, and they have a good amount of cash in the bank...what's to stop them from giving all the players big bonuses in the last few days of the season, then demoting and having all the cash back?

Not anywhere near official, yet, tho. Might run into issues by the time we get to working through it all, etc.

It's pretty much the primary idea right now, though. We need to fix up the system in general somehow. It's just not very fun in the end.

Might be fun for player agents, but headaches for owners having to buy grills, rims and diamond earrings in order to sway free agents to come to your team (or keep them from leaving).

Did you give any thought to that Offensive and Defensive Captain equipment I saw in another post?
I thought that was a great idea and a fantastic way to spread out top dots.

Or even having teams buy equipment that is "house equipment" where the team can make their own pieces of equipment and can have dots on the team wear it. Then when the dot retires or goes to another team, the piece of equipment stays with the team. (Agents dots would have their own equipment as well... so they wouldn't be losing anything by going to another team.)

or we could just make equipment cheaper rather than come up with dozens and dozens of rules to prevent gaming the financial aspect of GLB.

The idea all along was for teams to have to decide who to maintain equipment for. Teams that have gamed the system were doing so because rules like these were never put in place. Now top level teams will either have to play max level players with unfunded equipment OR they'll bring in backups who are behind starters by 8-10 levels but have full equipment. Either is a viable option and will lead to a better game.

Edit - and sucks for all the teams that are resetting next season for archtype players

The new rules don't go into effect until Season 15...don't think it will affect teams dropping down to take advantage of archetypes.

FINALLY ! The game i've been waiting 14 seasons for.

Good catch. I think this change has to be coupled with a team level based promotion system or very well built teams could get penalized by being overpromoted and not meeting the league minimums.

This would be a great idea but unless the price of EQ is dropped dramtically then players will never afford there own..And also what about teams who simply give all there cash to there players in the form of the EQ fund before this takes place and then demote???They then still technically have that cash if it is distributed between all there players
